Being a Technician Instead of a Businessman - Eric J. Boyd Designs. 13 September 2009 @ 11:41 pm. Being a Technician Instead of a Businessman. Now the indie movement lets you define “success” however you like, and I applaud that. But whatever metric you choose, it seems to make sense to embrace all three aspects of what being a business means and using them to pursue it. Needless to say, I’ve resolved to do better at cultivating my business, not just designing my games. 4 comments Leave a comment. The go...

Status and Gamism - John's RPG Journal
http://jhkimrpg.livejournal.com/65389.html
Status and Gamism - Johns RPG Journal. October 16th, 2007. 09:07 pm - Status and Gamism. In a recent post, I discussed "GMing as a Social Position". Here I would like to talk about informal hierarchies rather than a formal position. First, an assertion: any social group will have some sort of status hierarchy. Status in the Gaming Group. That this wasn't generally true in his findings. Studying mostly D&D groups in the midwest circa 1980, he observed as a sociologist that social status in the game mi...

GNS Links and Comments - John's RPG Journal
http://jhkimrpg.livejournal.com/57283.html
GNS Links and Comments - Johns RPG Journal. April 24th, 2007. 11:58 am - GNS Links and Comments. I think I've done fairly well to avoid discussion on the GNS Model. The last time I had a post focused on the GNS Model was back in November 2005: "Me and GNS". Where I commented that I wouldn't post about it much - which it appears I've done fairly well on. Still, there are posts on it to time to time that I read, and I thought I'd summarize again. There's Jono's Natural Log post GNS theory. However, at this...

A GNS Question - clehrich. John Kims RPG Page. Ken Hite, Out Of The Box. Laquo; previous entry. Next entry ». Apr 25th, 2007 10:26 pm. John Kim's blog had a post. About GNS and his interest or lack thereof these days. I have, as you know, been somewhat absent from this whole little mad field, myself, and I found myself thinking, "So what do I think about it these days? 1 Do you find GNS useful in your current play? 2 Did you find it so in the past? 4 Did you do so in the past? I've never done one. 1 Nope...

GO PLAY SE PORTLAND 7? - Portland Indie Games
http://pdxindiegames.livejournal.com/9857.html
GO PLAY SE PORTLAND 7? By jake richmond (. At September 5th, 2007 (10:15 am). Hi assuming I haven't scared everyone away, lets talk about Go Play SE Portland 7. I'm thinking either Sept 22nd or October 6th. My house is busy with the Stumptown Comics Fest on the weekend of the 29th, otherwise I would suggest that date. However, if someone wants to organize some other gaming in between, I think that would be pretty awesome. Posted by: melinglor (. Posted at: September 5th, 2007 10:35 pm (UTC). Posted at: S...

Go Play SE Portland 7 Update - Portland Indie Games
http://pdxindiegames.livejournal.com/10215.html
Go Play SE Portland 7 Update. By jake richmond (. At September 18th, 2007 (06:35 am). New Proposal: 1 night, 2 game slots! Slot 1 starts at maybe 2pm and ends at 6pm. Slot 2 starts at 7 and ends at 11. Something like that. Thoughts? What slots would be better? Maybe 5-9 and 10-2am for the late night people? Or noon-4 and 5-9 for the early people? More slots means more games, right? So lets start proposing games! Posted by: Christian Griffen (xenopulse) (. Posted at: September 18th, 2007 05:57 pm (UTC).
