The flavours do a dance of joy on your tongue and the texture is the smoothest, sleekest thing in the world. Perhaps so, but it was – to mix my metaphors – the icing on the cake. Just pre-heat the oven to about 190C and you’re ready to go. 2-3 cloves of garlic. 1 tin coconut milk. 2/3 stem of lemon grass. Boiled water from the kettle. Toss in a littl...

Preheat the oven to 170C. Grease and line a 20cm springform cake tin. A mixed 160g plain flour and ground almonds. I tend to use 50/50 to good effect. 1/4-1/2 tsp ground cloves. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (perhaps a touch more if you are using almonds). 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda. 135g soft brown muscovado sugar. My Chickens
Saturday, April 23, 2011. April is almost over and Easter is here. Wow! Time sure does fly. And the chicks grew quickly. First they get wing feathers. Then they get little tail feathers. Then the shoulder feathers start coming in and the wings fill in in-between. They were really filling up the box. Look at the tail on that little chick. These birds are so interesting because they are each completely different from the other in color and the way they feathers are marked. They really are the cutest things!

I’ve been experimenting with spicing up tomato / veg juice drinks and come up with a great combination I thought I’d share with you. I used V8 veg juice in the end but ordinary tomato juice is fine. V8 vegetable juice (cold, straight from the fridge). Malden Sea Salt (ground in a pestle and mortar). Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce.

Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Mr Tweed Goes to Canada. The newest episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels takes place in good ol' Saskatoon where Shannon Tweed hales from. They're naming a street after her! Also you can watch their partnership going through hard times and Shannon revisiting her old stomping grounds. Here's and interview with Shannon. Chickens in Sidney
Did you know that every municipality from Nanaimo south allows chickens on residential zoned lots? Including ultra conservative Oak Bay. We may very well be the ONLY place on Vancouver Island that does not allow chickens. I stopped after reading Nanaimos bylaws. I felt I had learned enough to know that Sidney banning hens just didnt make sense. The point has been made. What you can do to help:. You can either write a letter to council asking to have the Bylaw amended to allow chickens and/or beehives.
