Embracing the Unknown | Child Led

http://www.childled.com/2013/02/18/embracing-the-unknown

Lisa's thoughts on parenting, life, and learning. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the changes that have taken place in my life since my children’s births. I’ve been aware that my daughter’s birth sparked a domino effect in my life – her birth was the point at which the seed of my new self began to grow and unfold. That is when I began the path to making every part of my life as blissful as that. But what about my first home birth? It was revolutionary for me in its own way, yet so different. This p...

Living in the Present | Child Led

http://www.childled.com/2013/01/07/present

Lisa's thoughts on parenting, life, and learning. Living in the Present. I’ve had this sense for a long time, since before I can remember, that I am preparing for my life, but not. It is like being in a perpetual state of “What do I want to be when I grow up? 8221; I love to ponder all the possibilities for my life without having to make a decision. I work backstage pretty much all the time, either preparing for the future or reflecting on the past. I am just living. In that state of awareness, I know th...

Loving Imperfection | Child Led

http://www.childled.com/2013/02/19/loving-imperfection

Lisa's thoughts on parenting, life, and learning. Another aspect of this is learning to love imperfection. In order for my kids to feel safe to grow and learn, they need to know that I love them even when they are struggling. They need to feel confident that my love is unconditional. Otherwise, they freeze up when they sense me withdrawing my love, and they regress rather than progress! Can I love Aden in those moments when he isn’t meeting my expectations, when he is instead testing my limits?

Death, Meditation, & Travel | Child Led

http://www.childled.com/2013/02/19/death-meditation-travel

Lisa's thoughts on parenting, life, and learning. Death, Meditation, & Travel. This morning I had a near-death experience. It is something that happens to me more often than I’d like. I woke up with an upset stomach and it quickly progressed until I felt like I was dying. I can’t describe it any other way, but it is scary, and involves and incredible discomfort in being in my body – hot flashes, sweat, cold chills, nausea, crawling skin…. This is big for me, especially with our plans to travel with our k...

Camping on an Uninhabited Island and Discovering the Moon | Child Led

http://www.childled.com/2012/03/03/moon

Lisa's thoughts on parenting, life, and learning. Camping on an Uninhabited Island and Discovering the Moon. After making it through our son’s colicky first year, we found ourselves longing to travel again and feel our adventurous spirits frolicking freely. We had a stretch of two weeks’ vacation over the winter holidays, so we decided to head to. We enjoyed Nassau’s version of Carnival. Complete with incredible hand-made costumes, all night parade, and festivities galore. Even after we returned home, he...

A Personal Finance site turned Family Expat travel blog. ABC’s of Travel. Right out of the gate, I suspect this blog will primarily be personal finance-centric up until we reach The Goal. Now don’t get me wrong – even with this challenge put in front of us, it doesn’t mean we’ll put “living life” on the back-burner. As you’ll come to find out, that really isn’t our style. 8211; try to become a better writer. Ride a wave on a surfboard. Update my (super) extensive family tree electronically. Live in a yurt.

Gear | It's a small world after all

https://itsasmallworldafterallfamily.wordpress.com/gear

Travelling with our family. It's a small world after all. Why are we doing this? Singapore and Malaysia links. Thailand and other SEA links. We are hoping to travel as light as possible. That said, we are still going to need a fair amount of stuff for the five of us. Steve has a 65L pack and I have a 45L pack. The children have small German packs (you can’t get proper children’s packs in the UK) to carry some of their clothes and teddies. Three to four outfits (tops and bottoms) for adults. Plasticine or...
