John and Fays Kimberley Trip: The Pinnacles
http://faynjohn.blogspot.com/2011/08/pinnacles.html
John and Fays Kimberley Trip. Monday, 22 August 2011. After leaving Geraldton we passed this leaning tree. It is a River Gum and it has grown like this because of the prevailing southerly winds which burn off the growth on the windward side of the tree. Jurien Bay just before sunset. Today (Sunday) we visited the Pinnacles. There are thousands of limestone pillars of varying sizes and it is quite a remarkable sight. It was blowing a gale today so it was like walking in a sand storm as you can see!

John and Fays Kimberley Trip: Geraldton
http://faynjohn.blogspot.com/2011/08/geraldton.html
John and Fays Kimberley Trip. Sunday, 21 August 2011. On our way to Geraldton we called into a little fishing village called Port Gregory which is situated between the ocean and a lake. This lake is quite unique in that it is pink! Apparently the colour is caused by a bacteria in the salt granules; this provides a source of Beta Carotene which is harvested from small ponds. Lots of cars and traffic lights ugh. It is quite a nice town with a newly renovated foreshore and a very busy port. As we drove to M...

John and Fays Kimberley Trip: Heading for Home
http://faynjohn.blogspot.com/2011/08/heading-for-home.html
John and Fays Kimberley Trip. Monday, 29 August 2011. After leaving New Norcia we cut across inland, again through rolling hills of canola and wheat as far as the eye could see, to a little (we thought) town of Merriden. It calls itself the centre of the wheatbelt area and was quite an interesting town. We did a tour of the town and it's surrounds and found out some interesting facts. By the time they had finished seeding the paddocks they would only be around 20cms out. Unbelievable. Our next stop was t...
