Sunday, 26 May 2013. Learning Outcome 8 Exhibit strong communication skills. Torture scene, Alien Prison key moment. I believe the above key moment is a good example for communication skills. I think its successful in that its clear the Alien is getting tortured and that hes possibly dangerous. As well as this its clear whom the torturers are and whom the victim of the torturing is. Lastly I believe the illustration use of composition helps to sell the Alien as the focus of the piece. Not infringing on o...

ChrisReillyArt_VisualStorytelling: Learning Outcome 4: Integrate and synthesise research into design solutions

http://www.chrisreillyartvisualstorytelling.blogspot.com/2013/05/learning-outcome-4-integrate-and.html

Sunday, 19 May 2013. Learning Outcome 4: Integrate and synthesise research into design solutions. This is a selection of the some of the references I used to inform my designs in the Alien Prison brief. And below a selection of designs for the guards and the aliens. With a lightly armoured guard who was slightly unique in uniform design between each character but had enough uni-formality between the group to hopefully show they are all part of the same guard outfit. http://www.chrisreillyartvisualstorytelling.blogspot.com/2013/05/storyboards.html

Monday, 13 May 2013. Storyboards And Final Key moments. This is my initial start for the storyboards using a collage approach to generate some quick interpretable ideas for the storyboards, concentrating on the main storyboard moments. Version 2 of the storyboards concentrating on a quick drawing style in order to get the idea across of the whole board. And finally these are my Key Moment scenes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). ChrisReillyArt_VisualStorytelling: March 2013

http://www.chrisreillyartvisualstorytelling.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Friday, 15 March 2013. Further Alien Development and Start of Prisoner Uniform designs. Here is the development for the first Alien prisoner. I decided to make him more panther like with similar muscle structure around the legs to suggest he is a fast runner. I also wanted to give him an opposable thumb on his feet in order to suggest he is able use his feet to similar effect of his hands – I was thinking along the terms of prehensile but I believe that applies to tails lol. I’ve decided that becau...

Sunday, 26 May 2013. Learning Outcome 6 Operate ethically demonstrating critical understanding of the issues governing good practice. Not infringing on others copy right or claiming that work your have done is for a commercial product. For instance the brief that we were given by Ubisoft Reflections Art Director for Assassins Creed is not for a product to be made in the Assassins Creed brand, and as such we would not claim it is. ChrisReillyArt_VisualStorytelling: Learning Outcome 2: Analyse Industry and professional requirements

http://www.chrisreillyartvisualstorytelling.blogspot.com/2013/05/learning-outcome-2-analyse-industry-and.html

Saturday, 18 May 2013. Learning Outcome 2: Analyse Industry and professional requirements. The visual storytelling requirements for industry professionals in the field of concept art are:. Is the artwork sensitive to the audience in question. For example a 3 game is unlikely to show characters with sharp teeth or claws as it is not appropriate to that audience. Moreover a hugely colourful artwork is not really appropriate for an audience whom is expecting a dark and gritty style of work. Im an Illustrato...

ChrisReillyArt_ConceptArt Practice: April 2013

http://chrisreillyartconceptartpractice.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, 13 April 2013. The Clearing Version 2. Edit: Heres my final final version haha Ive nitpicked this illustration to death now. For the most part I am just trying to fix the dramatic change in contrast between the bottom left and the rest of the painting. And I've tried to make the lighting a bit more contrasty - who knew contrasty is actually a word. Saturday, 6 April 2013. Atomhawk 'The Realm' Brief. I could of stopped the project here as I only had to do the environment section however I wanted...

Monday, 27 May 2013. Learning Outcome 4 Demonstrate a critical understanding of the key issues relating to Concept Art practice. The issues relating to concept art practice are the following:. Effective communication between the client and the concept artist. Self analysis and improvement of work, as well as the ability to respond to client feedback. Delivering effective ie successfully answers the brief, and quality work ie its to a equal standard or exceed that of contemporary practitioners. Learning O...

ChrisReillyArt_ConceptArt Practice: Learning Outcome 8_Explore and evaluate a range of visual responses to a brief.

http://chrisreillyartconceptartpractice.blogspot.com/2013/05/learning-outcome-8explore-and-evaluate.html

Monday, 27 May 2013. Learning Outcome 8 Explore and evaluate a range of visual responses to a brief. For the Atomhawk brief I initially had this design for my final 'The Shadow' creature. However I felt that this creature design was not working from both an aesthetic and design perspective. Also it did not fit very well with my initial intention of creating a creature made of lots of different environmental pieces example dirt, twigs, rocks etc And instead looked like some weird vegetable man lol. Monday, 27 May 2013. Learning Outcome 9 Reflect on practice and recognise and critically appraise strengths and weaknesses. With my work I think my strengths are the following based on both personal opinion. As well as feedback from industry professionals and tutors. Use of and understanding of Composition. I believe this one is self explanatory, and is probably one of my strongest skills. Understanding of ideation and design principles in order to create various answers and design directions for briefs.

ChrisReillyArt_ConceptArt Practice: Final Atomhawk work

http://chrisreillyartconceptartpractice.blogspot.com/2013/05/final-atomhawk-work.html

Monday, 13 May 2013. Heres a slightly more refined version of my clearing scene. I added a few changes to help with the composition such as adding elements that point towards the centre of the picture, and changing the placement of the rocks. I didnt really like my previous shadow creature design so I did another one that I believe is closer to the style of the game, it is based off of one of the thumbnails from my initial sheet of thumbnails. Monday, 13 May 2013. This is all of my work for the Ubisoft Assassins Creed brief. I decided to go with an Aztec version of the design as I havent explored that culture in my art before and the culture is very different from previous Assassin Creed games therefore I felt it would be the most challenging one to do. Further exploration of designs. Final exploration of designs. Assassin Model sheet, back and front view. 3/4 Final Assassin Design sketch. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Im an Illustrator ...

Some of our projects. Saturday, March 2, 2013. Kitchen extension - work in progress. Here we present some photos of some work in progress, a kitchen extension to an existing house in red brick. There's lots left to do, including replacing the unsightly temporary vent stack on the right with a more appropriate version! A traditional stable door was incorporated into a new porched back entrance. This will make an interesting feature and allow for fresh air in summer time. Sunday, October 7, 2012. We were e...
