Square Peg into a Round Hole. A Search for the Extraordinary Ordinary Life. You are currently browsing the monthly archive for June 2009. June 10, 2009 in Uncategorized. Who knew that on days like today when I feel racked with worry, stress, confusion, etc that I so firmly believed that a fraking sandwich would cure all my ills. With an empty stomach, everything is magnified and the distress is overwhelming. Then I’m ashamed to think that’s my first thought of how to assuage my feelings. Now this fasting...

Square Peg into a Round Hole. A Search for the Extraordinary Ordinary Life. February 6, 2012 in Uncategorized. 1 I’d like to try blogging again, esp about books I’m reading. I found it super helpful to me (if not always interesting to anyone else) to try to capture my thoughts in a coherent manner and save them for some sort of posterity. Helps me feel like I’m engaging them in a deeper way. So here’s my list of what I’d like to re-read:. The God Who Loves You: Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. As for th...

hold life loosely: complicated salvation
http://holdlifeloosely.blogspot.com/2007/08/complicated-salvation.html
Sunday, August 26, 2007. If you have not seen Black Snake Moan, I'm not sure you want to. But as I was watching/writing my dissertation, I was struck by the complexity of the plot. The main characters are two individuals suddenly cast adrift by life circumstances, confused and grasping frantically for any kind of meaning in life. Think that happens when you are in a suit and a tie? After that, my eyes can open, my nostrils catch scents for the first time, my skin knows its surroundings like never before&...

Friday, September 14, 2007. That is what a mighty warrior would do. Then he would go have a pint of the best beer he could find to celebrate. I don't know if I am missing something but that is how I view a mighty warrior. I wonder, is my perspective off or is that pathetic picture of Christ a prissy fraud? Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Sunday, June 14, 2009. Almost a year later . My first thougtht this morning. Gross, ah? And had to go and use that language on a Sunday too. Peeled my butt out of bed, left for church 15 minutes late, sat out in the lobby, drank a cup of coffee, and listened to most of the sermon, then I don't know why but I went in. My scalp standing on end! Two quick jumps, following him. Second jump, letter to the Phillipians. So, I think Charlie intended to teach on anxiety and faith this morning. But God's Inner...

Friday, August 31, 2007. Complexity and other little things . I was working with a couple today who had a one month old little boy. He was adorable! Lately. Holding that beautiful little boy probably did not help me stay focused on the therapy. At that time, I knew there was too much going on for me to manage coherently. I gave that session to God. I don't know if their relationship will weather this storm but I dearly hope so. Wednesday, August 29, 2007. That date in history . Sunday, August 26, 2007.
