Clive's Etape Blog: January 2008
http://clivesetape.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
A middle-aged attempt at averting a personal obesity crisis, and do something dreamed about since childhood. Monday, 28 January 2008. Where did that week go? Another Monday, another weigh in. Weight 103.4kg, minimal weight loss, but still loss. Focus, Pinky, focus! Sticking to that eating plan this week, come hell or high water. Miles last week 116. Back to the Turbo, with a feeling that the 'improvements' on it last week will be somewhat transitory (the tyre was going down). Wednesday, 23 January 2008.

Clive's Etape Blog: Closure
http://clivesetape.blogspot.com/2008/09/closure.html
A middle-aged attempt at averting a personal obesity crisis, and do something dreamed about since childhood. Sunday, 14 September 2008. This will be the final and closing post for this, my Etape. It started last year as an effort to keep me focused. And has proved invaluable as an aid in the darker moments to remind me where I've come from and what it is possible to achieve. So, was it worth it? As for the Etape. Late in 2006. The conversation went something like:. What do you do? France in the Pyrenees.

one more cup of coffee: CC Sudbury Mad March Hilly 21.7
http://omcoc.blogspot.com/2014/03/cc-sudbury-mad-march-hilly-217.html
One more cup of coffee. Sunday, 9 March 2014. CC Sudbury Mad March Hilly 21.7. Distance: 21.7 miles. Time: 58 minutes 18 seconds. Average speed: 22.333 mph. Headed out early to Lovejoy country (Lavenham) in glorious spring sunshine. The mad march hilly course is fun but tough - very little 'flat' (unsurprisingly) and always some technical challenge lurking to put me off my stride. Anyway, onwards and upwards! Another hilly challenge next week. Labels: 21.7 mile TT. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://omcoc.blogspot.com/2014/05/may-day-weekend-antics.html
One more cup of coffee. Tuesday, 6 May 2014. May day weekend antics. Not a very restful Bank Holiday weekend:. Saturday: Kings Lynn CC 10 - 23:13 (fastest 10 since July 2008, 14th place). Sunday: VC Norwich 25 - 58:33 (fastest 25 since August 2007, my second fastest 25, 18th place). Monday: VC Barrachi 10 - 23:46 (30 seconds quicker than my Good Friday effort on this course). Three rides over 25mph, quite pleased :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Polka Dot Challenge [2005: 6:39].

one more cup of coffee: West Suffolk Wheelers sporting 21
http://omcoc.blogspot.com/2014/03/west-suffolk-wheelers-sporting-21.html
One more cup of coffee. Saturday, 15 March 2014. West Suffolk Wheelers sporting 21. Time: 56 minutes 11 seconds. Average speed: 22.426 mph. Faster then when I did this in 2011 (a long 57) but slower than 2007 (55) and 2008 (53! Fastest men did 46s/47s! A nice day though - sunny, with a little bit of breeze. The hills didn't seem that bad. More notable were the Keystone Kops antics before the race, including various tyre issues, losing a glove and overshoe, and only getting a 3 mile warm up.

Clive's Etape Blog: Mashed!
http://clivesetape.blogspot.com/2008/09/mashed.html
A middle-aged attempt at averting a personal obesity crisis, and do something dreamed about since childhood. Sunday, 14 September 2008. September saw the final sportive that I had pencilled in for this year, the SpudRiley. Heading out of Woodford. Into the Peak District hills. As has seemed normal since April, the weather was not the best, overcast and misty with variable visibility, if not raining. Since the forecast was not too good I broke out the Carrera. Back and forth as he reached the top of climb...

Clive's Etape Blog: On Trial
http://clivesetape.blogspot.com/2008/09/on-trial.html
A middle-aged attempt at averting a personal obesity crisis, and do something dreamed about since childhood. Tuesday, 2 September 2008. Since having rediscovered the joys of cycling a couple of years ago, I have been keen to experience as many of its aspects as possible. As this year progressed, and speed built, it was suggested that I might try a 10 mile Time Trial. I resisted up to the time of the Etape. With the end of the 'Summer' approaching, a visitor to the 10 th. August, to be 48 th. Round the ro...
