In April 2015 Jessica and I travelled to the beautifully wild Torridon to walk, climb and scramble over as much as we could in the time we had. There was one great challenge that had eluded us on that trip and now we had the chance to go back to that amazing place and see if we could conquer it: the Liathach. Wonderful rock layers on the way up. First breathtaking view as you reach the ridge. First view of the pinnacles.

The place of sharp stones'. Sunday, 12 April 2015. Balcombe to Horsham via St Leonard's Forest. Low dark cloud raced across the sky as I left Balcombe station. The rain came down and there were no photos. A few miles later, into Nymans Woods, it clears up suddenly and swiftly. The forest floor blazes golden brown, a thick carpet of beech and oak leaves. The place of sharp stones'. Friday, 12 September 2014. Tay watershed walk: sound and vision. I've created a slideshow complete with field recordings of the long walk I did earlier this year. It's about 14 minutes long - enough time to get your headphones on and settle down with a cup of tea to enjoy a cross-section of the sights and sounds of Scotland's magnificent countryside. The bridge over the Abhainn Sgaladail, which drains the northwestern aspect of Clisham and its satellites, is a much more sporting 50 metres above sea level. The world comes and goes. Three days, two camps, 36 miles of tramping between two Highland villages, and just enough weather to make us uncomfortable if not quite threatened. There was a bit more to it than that though.
