A Window into 2i's World: May 2009
http://cdnpyp2il.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
A Window into 2i's World. We have a shiny new sign. Well, in truth, it is neither shiny nor new; it is ‘green’ as in recycled. And it took my eye; largely because of the fact that the letters had been cleverly formed by leaving spaces unpainted white. But I digress (so no change there then! Look closely; what do you notice? What can possibly have happened to it? There was work to be done too. Warm sunny weather and rain had meant that everything (including things we. Planted) had shot up. . Being care...

A Window into 2i's World: April 2009
http://cdnpyp2il.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
A Window into 2i's World. Exciting proposal put to us the other day. Amelia’s mum has been writing a book for children. It is a book about children’s rights; specifically the right of all children to have somewhere safe to live with their family. It is called Joe’s House. This is what the front cover of the book will look like (the book has not yet been published). The book tells of Millie (that’s Amelia! In the book (and yes, in real life too! It had words, but no pictures. Hmm! As I said at the s...

A Window into 2i's World: Pass it on…..
http://class2ipregny.blogspot.com/2009/12/pass-it-on.html
A Window into 2i's World. Pass it on…. We learned a new game today. In art! 160; Do you want us to teach. 160; how to play? 160; Well, you need a few friends, each with one long, narrow strip of paper, a paintbrush…. First, think of a shape that you can paint; it needs to be one that you can repeat, so not too complicated. A diamond would work really well. Paint your chosen shape, using your chosen colour, at one end of your strip of paper. Your friends will all be doing the same with. Game  ...

A Window into 2i's World: My favourite patterns
http://class2ipregny.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-favourite-patterns.html
A Window into 2i's World. Daniel arrived at school on Thursday clutching a very fancy woven briefcase. A very fancy woven briefcase, with a very fancy ‘criss-cross’ pattern. If you look closely, you should be able to spot how the pattern repeats. Even if at first glance it looks quite complicated. But that was not all. Inside the woven briefcase (amongst a. 160; This too had a ‘criss-cross’ pattern, a bit like a checkerboard. Can you spot how the patterns are the same? Pattern.’ She ...160; Enakshi...

a gardening year: The outdoors equivalent of housework
http://class2igardens.blogspot.com/2009/11/outdoors-equivalent-of-housework.html
In the garden with Class 2i. Thursday, 5 November 2009. The outdoors equivalent of housework. Now that the weather has taken a turn for the colder – and wetter - nothing much is growing at this time of year – other than the odd plant that escaped the harvest. Like these potatoes, for example. So November in the garden largely means the outdoors equivalent of housework. There are leaves to be raked…. Herbs such as mint need to have their straggly stems cut back. There are weeds to be pulled up.

a gardening year: November 2009
http://class2igardens.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
In the garden with Class 2i. Thursday, 26 November 2009. New plants from old. Just take a look at this sad-looking specimen. It, along with a dozen or so similar plants, was ‘rescued’ from a rather neglected one-time ‘display’. What, we wondered, had gone wrong. The crisp brown flowers and the withered buds, not to mention the dusty soil that was as-dry-as-the-proverbial-bone pointed towards them not having been watered for a. But never mind. Class 2i to the rescue! 160; Our job? Toss these into the b...

a gardening year: Dig It!
http://class2igardens.blogspot.com/2009/11/dig-it.html
In the garden with Class 2i. Thursday, 19 November 2009. We couldn’t help noticing during last week’s garlic-planting session, that in spite of our best efforts, the raised beds were looking a little squished. In need of a bit more soil. Thursday therefore, saw us stomping en ligne to a newly-acquired heap of healthy soil that had been dumped in an area under the trees. Our job; to fill buckets with spades full of crumbly soil which would be lugged over and emptied on top of the needy beds.

a gardening year: Composting
http://class2igardens.blogspot.com/2009/10/composting.html
In the garden with Class 2i. Friday, 2 October 2009. We gathered under the trees for this week’s session in the garden. Found a bit of clean dirt on which to sit – and looked upwards. Up towards the canopy of leaves. What did we notice about the leaves? 160; That leaves which had been green during the long summer months, were beginning to change colour. Looked down to where we were sitting. What did we notice there? Brown, crisp, dry, curled leaves. . Leaves, as Can noted. Up the trunk…. Now think bac...
