Garden of Gethsemane: January 2007
http://gardenofgethsemane.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
A Lutheran Pastor's Blog on Theology, Liturgy, and Church. Wednesday, January 17, 2007. 2nd Sunday after Epiphany. It's been awhile since I've gone ablogging, so here is my new post. It is taken from my last sermon. Grace, peace, and mercy from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. That God gives man wine to cheer his heart. One of the Messianic signs. Alluded to in our Old Testament lesson is that, “The mountains shall. Good here and a sign of the Messianic kingdom. Blesses that couple with His firs...

Garden of Gethsemane: Missions Gone Wild
http://gardenofgethsemane.blogspot.com/2008/05/missions-gone-wild.html
A Lutheran Pastor's Blog on Theology, Liturgy, and Church. Monday, May 12, 2008. Thanks to 'the Old Parson' for posting this blog. It's bad enough when members of the synod try to accommodate the Divine Service to reformed sensibilities, but to have the chair of the missions department at one of the Concordia's suggest that we should accommodate it to Muslim sensibilities is unthinkable. The gist of the Professor's proposals is that we should alter Christianity itself, at least in the Muslim mission cont...

Garden of Gethsemane: The Kingdom of Heaven Belongs to Such as These
http://gardenofgethsemane.blogspot.com/2010/09/kingdom-of-heaven-belongs-to-such-as.html
A Lutheran Pastor's Blog on Theology, Liturgy, and Church. Tuesday, September 21, 2010. The Kingdom of Heaven Belongs to Such as These. On the surface, my friend is right; baptism is not explicitly mentioned. But the failure to see the connection between this text and the Sacrament of Baptism says something about the way he views Baptism as well as revealing the way he does theology. First, what does Scripture tell us Baptism does? How can the kingdom of heaven belong to the little ones? Children become ...

The Season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and continues 40 days, Sundays excluded, in preparation for Easter. Homestead Lutheran Academy: June 2009
http://homesteadla.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2009. For her birthday, the Artist received a gift card to Borders. It was very convenient that we could use it at home to shop the very evening she received it. You see, she had a list ready of things she would like to use it to buy. Order placed, items received - except one, the latest release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Due to be released July 7 th. She waits and waits, trying to be patient. We could expect the book on July 7 th. Are you kidding me? Apparently, when an o...

Homestead Lutheran Academy: October 2009
http://homesteadla.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 30, 2009. Links to this post. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Both kids are studying chemistry this year. The Engineer is working with book I of Adventures With Atoms and Molecules. The books (there are two in the set) are full of simple experiments. They do not take too long to read, prepare a write up, conduct or discuss. I'm so pleased with the way they fit the capabilities of a third grader. I loved doing that experiment! Chem C1000 kit. Several of her experiments. That require taking so...

Homestead Lutheran Academy: September 2009
http://homesteadla.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The kids' first ever fishing trip was a big success and a bust all in one. It was wonderful to get away from a hectic month. The weather was beautiful. The lodge at Geneva on the Lake was clean, welcoming, packed with nice amenities for children yet, except for ours, child-free. The town was pretty much closed down for the winter season. The lake was picturesque. It was fun to show the kids the plants that host monarch butterflies, and get some nice butterfly photos too.

Homestead Lutheran Academy: New Sheers
http://homesteadla.blogspot.com/2009/12/new-sheers.html
Wednesday, December 30, 2009. They are far from perfect, but hopefully I'm the only one who will see the imperfections. The Artist is pleased, and I expect Rick will be too. And I only had to rip out a hem twice. (Go ahead and laugh! I'm happy the job is done, but still wishing I could have done better. I am consoling myself with the fact that the material was not wasted, and next time I will not be working completely pattern free, I can use these as a pattern. Olive Tree Guitar Ensemble. Vacuuming in Hi...
