Maintaining a forty-six year tradition of commenting on things that interest me. Saturday, May 02, 2015. Fifty Years Ago This Week in West Rome - 5/3/1965 to 5/9/1965. The Rome City School Board gave priority approval to an expenditure for shop equipment for the new West Rome High shop that was already under construction. Yes, the city did indeed approve construction of a new shop before deciding whether or not to pay for any equipment to go into those newly constructed walls! And finally, topping out a ...

Maintaining a forty-six year tradition of commenting on things that interest me. Saturday, November 29, 2014. Fifty Years Ago This Week in West Rome - 11/30/1964 to 12/6/1964. The weather was perfect for a Christmas event: it was dry and clear, but very, very cold, with highs in the upper thirties and low forties during the day on Monday and Tuesday and lows in the upper teens. And here's a real. Season opener: NBC presented the television premiere of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. No, they don't say th...

Continued growth in the Rome City School System's student population led to an additional allotment of 27 teachers for the 1965-1966 school year, with at least four of those teachers designated for West Rome High School. The debatable wisdom of a man who learned too slowly what his life was meant to be. Each step of error was his own choice and any good thing came from above. Friday, April 14, 2006. Please pardon me as I break from the DRAWNOUT account of my NY trip.). As we ate, the two boys, Taura and I chatted about Superman's powers. I was explaining the yellow sun as the source of Superman's powers to the boys and discussing how x-ray vision might work with my dear wife Taura. Taura and I spoke of this as we neared ...

The debatable wisdom of a man who learned too slowly what his life was meant to be. Each step of error was his own choice and any good thing came from above. Saturday, September 16, 2006. Filling in the Gaps. I never saw "The Green Slime" until a week ago. I was checking out the DVDs and remaining VHS tapes at a Half Price Books when I stumbled across a VHS copy of what was, to me, a missing gap in my childhood. It was only $5, so I grabbed it without hesitation. Posted by Lanny at 9/16/2006 10:34:00 PM.

Wednesday, September 05, 2012. Today I feel like Tiger Woods. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a professional golfer- or any kind of professional athlete. Truth be told, I'm not very good at sports at all. (Enjoy the heck out of them, though.) But, nonetheless, today I am Tiger Woods. Just like Tiger Woods. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wednesday, August 22, 2012. We all have them. Heaven knows that I have them. I cling to them steadfastly in times of crisis and moments of uncertainty. But lately I've been straying more and more away from them. Pushing myself and trying to find out what happens if I let go of those comfort zones and try something that I considered.frightening. They really aren't that frightening at all. In fact, I've learned more about myself and grown more since I started doing that than I have in years.

Saturday, March 07, 2009. This past week, the cancer came back. It reappeared this time as tumors in his brain. He flew out to Houston for treatment at the cancer center there yesterday. Today, I sit and worry about his health and well being. I know that he is strong, and I know that he has the courage to beat this, but I can't help but sit and wonder what he is going through. Sunday, January 26, 2014. Tonight, the Grammy's are on. Millions of folks have tuned in- I believe more to watch the performing acts than the awards themselves- and are probably having a good time. I am not one of their viewers. And, if you really do find that inner soul and can express it in a way that is true to yourself, you might just find that there are others out there who will resonate with it, anyway. What more reward does anyone truly need? Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
