More great stories out there include the mother/daughter duo participating in Climate Ride on a tandem bike as well as the three generation family of five - both showing that riding a bicycle from NYC to DC is an amazing event for all riders -young and old. A cast of great speakers including a guy who biked 21,000 miles.

Most of my training this summer for Climate Ride is done in the Oakland hills behind my apartment in Rockridge. The hills are great for strength training and an intense cardio-vascular workout. But, since they wear me out pretty fast, I fear I won't have a lot of endurance for the long rides ahead from NY to DC.

So, for Labor Day weekend, my family was heading back up to Cape Cod again, this time with our older son, Ben, recently returned from graduating college (and working during the Summer) in Minnesota to start work with the DOT in New York, but missing our younger son, Stephen, who had just left to start a Junior year semester abroad in Barcelona.
