Expat adventures in travel and knitting. Laquo; FO: Fruit of the Vine. FO and Almost FO. Rav link) is finished! I did have to make some mods after-the-fact in the neckline, but you can’t tell. The original neckline was too large for my liking, so I picked up the stitches afterwards and decreased by 16 stitches in two rows of garter stitch, then did one row even before binding off. Perfect. It’s so warm and light. I might make another one of these. By Anne Hanson of Knitspot (rav link here. A Cold Bright ...

Expat adventures in travel and knitting. Laquo; Frogged: Wanker Cardigan. We recently made a quick trip to the states to prepare for what is likely a move back to the US later this summer. But no trip to the US can be complete without some stash enhancing and more (my husband disputes this). I also stopped in at Webs. In Northampton, Massachusetts. Otherwise known as my-husbands-nightmare. Aside from brown and teal skeins of Ultra Alpaca for Kate Gilbert’s Wintergreen Mittens. We also went to Windsor But...

Expat adventures in travel and knitting. Laquo; How To House 44 Lizards in Your Underwear. Knitting lace can take quite a lot of concentration. Between keeping your eye out for any errata, making sure you have all the yarn overs in the right place, and making sure you’re reading the chart correctly, it is very easy to mess something up. And I don’t like using lifelines so that creates even more drama when I mess up. But not so with this. Rav link) pattern by Kirsten Kapur at Through The Loops. Sara on Fr...

Expat adventures in travel and knitting. Laquo; Buttons and More. We have since gotten a dog–a rescue yorkie/jack russell who is two. Her name is Gracie. But somehow we end up calling her BooBoo most of the time. She’s sweet as can be, hates to get out of bed early to do her morning business, and is a total cuddlebug. I have managed to knit quite a bit with so many friends having babies and whatnot, but I did manage to get something done for me. It’s Hannah Fettig’s Lightweight Pullover. On A New Sensati...

Blocking Nevis… Part Two. And it is now about time… →. October 13, 2008 · 6:34 pm. Well, finally FO pictures of Nevis! Fortunately the sleeves turned out nicely after the second blocking, boy, did I get quite a scare…! And I managed to find a nice zipper (eventhough it is black on the sides, I had hoped for dark blue or green, but no), and last but not least, I managed to sew it in by hand. Since sewing is not really my thing, this was quite an accomplishment. Modelled from the front:. And from the back:.

I know, I know… I wasn’t supposed to begin any new projects before finishing (at least one of) the projects I’ve got going already, however it didn’t eexactly turn out that way. I couldn’t help notice the beautiful Turn a Square hat by Jared Flood on Ravelry. Main thing is that he is really happy with the hat, it is very warm, it fits very well and easily covers the ears, which was a specific request. Furthermore this a...
