Discovered on 29 August 1981 by Ellen Howell, its an average size at 4.4km. Bright comets of 2016. Bright Comets of 2015. Where do comets come from? Two new comets announced. Two new comets were announced on April 10. Comet MASTER (2015 G2) and Comet SWAN-Xingming (2015 F5). Comet MASTER is quite close to the sun at the moment, discovered on April 7th by astronomers using the MASTER-SAAO telescope at the South African Astronomical Observatory near Sutherland it shone at magnitude 10.7 and is brightening quite nicely expected to reach magnitude 5 by May. The comet is currently in the constellation of Camelopardalis. At a magnitude of 8.5 and slowly fading. The comet remains circumpolar making it visible all night after sunset in the Northern sky. The comet is now getting more diffuse making it difficult to observe in poor sky conditions. 15th – 21st January.

I use software on the laptop called ImagesPlus which lets me choose my exposure lengths, camera settings and choose how many images to take. It will allow me to choose unlimited exposure lengths over 30 seconds. This is great as it allows me to take for example 30 exposures at 60 seconds each and I wont need to press a single button to take them all. Is it worth the effort?
