Today some people keep track of their family happenings on blogs, facebook or instagram. 30 years ago our family had a newsletter punched out on a typewriter and mailed each month. Here are some samples of the articles. These are from 1983 when we first started:. For Christmas this past year, I scanned all the pages and put them into a hardbound book for each of our children. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. A Fun Day at Big Trees! We had a lot of fun with the Perrys up in the mountains! First off- a picnic near the river. Which included boys making things into guns. And a ballerina balancing! A pose at the Beaver Creek bridge! And then some relaxing. While the kids had fun. Hannah found this heart shaped rock! The boys are trying to make waterfalls! Had to get a picture with the Knight of Round Table pizza! Then a late night swim! What a great day! Thanks for coming with us!

Monday, August 3, 2015. The Golden Gate Bridge! The Golden Gate Bridge is an amazing symbol for San Francisco and California. We had fun finding places with great views of the bridge! And we crossed it several times during our trip. Do you know why it is named the Golden Gate Bridge? I thought I knew because of something I had learned in school, but upon further study, I found the real reason. See below for the answer! And the next day it was fun to actually walk on the bridge! Saturday, August 1, 2015. The families went on a hike at Stow Lake up to the top of Strawberry Hill. The hill occupies an entire island in the park's man-made Stow Lake, and is connected by two bridges to the mainland of the park. The island is covered with a variety of trees and shrubbery and contains several trails. The island also contains a waterfall that leads into the lake. A park docent taught us about these edible flowers. And quite a few took a taste! Then we all had lunch at the Boat House!
