The Abundant Table Farm Project: June 2010
http://abundanttableorganicfarming.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
The Abundant Table Farm Project. Spirituality - community - sustainability. Monday, June 28, 2010. Tis the gift to be simple,. Tis the gift to be free,. Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,. And when we find ourselves in the place just right,. It will be in the valley of love and delight. Refrain: When true simplicity is gained,. To bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed. To turn, turn will be our delight,. Til by turning, turning we come round right. I am forever changed by this work and by th...

Forming Roots: June 2014
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 8, 2014. Dear darkening ground,. You've endured so patiently the walls we've built,. Perhaps you'll give the cities one more hour. And grant the churches and cloisters two. And those that labor - let their work. Grip them another five hours, or seven,. Before you become forest again, and water, and widening wilderness. In that hour of inconceivable terror. When you take back your name. Just give me a little more time! I want to love the things. As no one has thought to love them,.

Forming Roots: February 2013
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 22, 2013. How many times has your face appeared. Over a shoulder, behind a friend,. Or in a crowd looking off,. Perhaps you are smiling. For a reason they will never know,. Forever caught in someone else's memory. How many facets of your own soul. Do you still not know? You would not recognize yourself,. Even if they were lined up and set before you,. So deep and dazzling would they be. You might murmur,. Who you are, God only knows. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Forming Roots: December 2012
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 5, 2012. A poem for Advent. We bury our seeds and wait,. Winter blocks the road,. Flowers are taken prisoner underground,. But then green justice tenders a spear. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I use this blog mostly for communicating with friends and family during periods of travel. Aside from that, I post the occasional poem or reflection, usually on themes of agriculture, radicalism, and faith. View my complete profile. The Abundant Table Farm Project.

Forming Roots: January 2013

Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Working on a full-tuition scholarship to seminary that's due Friday, and finding that I still work best under pressure, unfortunately. And my writing skills have sadly slowed down A LOT since college. Taking a break now. Here's an excerpt from my 10 page essay on the very broad prompt they gave: "The Church.". Links to this post. Forming Roots: July 2013
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 30, 2013. A Blessing in the Dust. A poem-blessing for this transition time, passed on to me by someone (a graced encounter) who just left Elkhart, Indiana, who I met just two weeks before I leave there for seminary. A Blessing in the Dust. You thought the blessing. In casting your lot. With this place,. In learning the art. And now you stand. The home you had. Had ached for,. Is behind you—. Not yours, after all. As small comfort,. For the next step. As you go,. In your two hands,.

Forming Roots: October 2012
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Let the beauty we love be what we do. Keep walking, though there's no place to get to. Don't try to see through the distances. That's not for human beings. Move within, but don't move the way fear makes you move. Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened. Don't open the door to the study. And begin reading. Take down a musical instrument. Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground. Links to this post. Then ...

Forming Roots: June 2012
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 13, 2012. The worn path home. Cuts across an empty lot. Grocery bags hang from my arms,. And I make one more engraving. Of feet into dust. Even the fire hydrant. Seems to sweat on this summer night. I pass the house of Ms. Maggio,. The salsa instructor. Her door is cracked,. And she is dancing with a student,. Red curtains drawn back. Three jars of tomato sauce. Weigh my shoulders down. I pass houses whose windows flare. Soft blue with the lights of television. Links to this post.

Forming Roots: Days 16-20, El Camino de Santiago
http://formingroots.blogspot.com/2013/06/days-16-20-el-camino-de-santiago.html
Monday, June 10, 2013. Days 16-20, El Camino de Santiago. Day 16-17. Roncesvalles to Larrasoana. Day 18. Pamplona. We stayed at a huge Albergue with hundreds of bunks in this city, famous for the running of the bulls. One of my favorite days so far! Rachel and I went to lunch with Lisa and Allison (below), teachers from Phoenix who work with special ed kids and were inspired to walk after watching "The Way," a movie about the Camino. Day 20. Estella. And I love that ive been around there too! Tis the gif...
