Cairo and then some

Cairo and then some. Saturday, October 18, 2008. Cairo was supposed to be the "Paris on the Nile" just Like Manila was supposed to be the "Paris of Southeast Asia". The two cities have a lot in common: Soaring populations, corrupt governments, and crumbling infrastructure. The difference is that the beauty of Manila was destroyed by the Japanese and the drab buildings of Metro Manila today are evidence of that while Cairo was destroyed by an Egyptian centrally planned military government. Dome of the Rock.

Cairo and then some: August 2008

http://conboybp.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Cairo and then some. Friday, August 29, 2008. Well, anyways, despite my stomach bug I did manage to get out and see the Egyptian Museum which was pretty cool. They don't allow cameras inside, however, so no pictures of sarcophagi here. It's unfortunate because some of the stuff in there is just amazing. Is colloquial Egyptian Arabic picked up from film and music. I could end up the David Hasselhoff of Egypt. No thanks. Sunday, August 24, 2008. The boat ride was a lot of fun and a great way to see the city.

Cairo and then some: Same same... but different

http://conboybp.blogspot.com/2008/09/same-same-but-different.html

Cairo and then some. Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Same same. but different. I took the 9 hour bus to Dahab. On Friday with what was originally supposed to be a small group of us and ended up through word of mouth with ten or 11 people. It was fine but going somewhere with that many people can be a nightmare. Either way it was fine once we got to Dahab. Because of the abundance of accommodations. A huge windsurfing Mecca. Mecca itself is in Saudi Arabia which is just across the Gulf of Aqaba. Hookah)&#46...

Friday, November 13, 2009. So, we are coming down the the final hour here. Why am I blogging when I have so many things to do? I don't want to forget the fun times we had here. I also don't think I will be motivated to do it when I get home. It has been a great time. We will recap on the ride home and post our thoughts when we get home. See you in a few days! We came home from the zoo and Nicole and Darin carved a pumpkin. Better late then never! Thursday, October 29, 2009. Snow Days Part II. Nicole and ...
