Connecting the Black Dots. Category Archives: Costa Rica. How I Traveled for 18 Months Without a Trust Fund. March 13, 2015. I’ve noticed a lot of travel writers getting flack lately by the masses for being ‘unrealistic’ and ‘obviously already rich’. George Takei recently posted Matt Kepnes excellent article The Ultimate Guide to Traveling When You’re Broke. They would have found stories about people of all ages, nationalities, ethnicities, and wealth levels traveling the world. Here’s how I did it.

A person's a person, no matter how small. Off the Beaten Path. Laquo; Autumn Wish List. A Walk in the Woods. An oldie but goodie. September 14th, 2013. Kris and Meredith went out earlier in the week by themselves. Kris dropped Meredith off at a friend’s house, and then went on to take our honey supers to have the honey extracted. (He came home with 60 pounds of honey! From a hive we have only had for 4 months! And was thrilled to see the foam rise up and out of the jars. I think she really loved having a...

A person's a person, no matter how small. Off the Beaten Path. Bring on the Fall. September 28th, 2013. We have been outside a lot this month! It was been really nice. The weather has mostly been great up until this past week. I will never get around to blogging about each time, but here are some of the things we have been up to. While we would love for the beautiful weather to stick around, it never does and we have rain gear and are ready for whatever October decides to bring us. A summer’s day. Here a...

A person's a person, no matter how small. Off the Beaten Path. Laquo; Hamilton Hobby Farm. September 21st, 2013. We decided to try the one across the street to start instead. The clue was a little more obvious and even if our GPS didn’t work well we could see even from where we were that there wouldn’t be a lot of options about where it could be, as there were only two trees in the whole field. Finally we got lucky! The high from that find had the girls excited to try again at the first place. The GP...

A person's a person, no matter how small. Off the Beaten Path. Laquo; Bring on the Fall. September 22nd, 2013. We had promised Fiona way back on her birthday that we would go for a pony ride in the summer. With everything else going on, it kept not happening. Finally last week, on the last weekday they were open, it was a gorgeous day and seemed perfect for an outing. We had a delicious lunch outside where we got to watch the goats on the roof, which Coombs is famous for. But it was Fiona’s first time on...

A person's a person, no matter how small. Off the Beaten Path. Laquo; An oldie but goodie. A Walk in the Woods. September 8th, 2013. We kept an eye out for newts or frogs or snakes, all of which we have seen in the past around rotting logs or sunning themselves on the path. We didn’t see any of those today though. We overturned a few rocks to see what kind of insects were hiding underneath. Meredith was very careful to make sure the rocks got turned back over again afterwards. The creek behind us is quit...

A person's a person, no matter how small. Off the Beaten Path. This is a great, very mild cleaner for wiping counter tops, spills, etc. Like the one above, I don’t always rinse it but sometimes will spray a bit of vinegar rinse and wipe. Fill an 18 oz spray bottle almost to the top with water. Add 1/2 cup of soap and stir gently. Add 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil if you like. And there are several other recipes there for both powdered and liquid detergents, but this is the one I use. Baking ...

To achievie Joy, Health and Abundance. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. June 4, 2014. This is a new favorite! With summer time upon us, salads are naturally a hit! Connecting the Dots...
Sometimes faith is all about connecting. The point of this website is to show that faith is a process of connecting the dots of life: of drawing conclusions from only snippets of evidence, of making intuitive leaps, and noticing strange moments of unusual coincidence . Will attempt to take real stories, and real issues. and connect them to the Almighty God who doesn’t always seem so real . Faith never means spelling EVERYTHING out; rather, for humans, it means hunting for the footprints of God in history...

Connecting the Black Dots
Connecting the Black Dots. How I Traveled for 18 Months Without a Trust Fund. March 13, 2015. Before reading this article, know that I understand that I am coming from a very privileged position. I am extremely lucky to have been able to save money to travel and to be able to travel continuously for over 18 months. However, I do get questions asking how I was able to do it, thus this blogpost:. Hierve el Agua – Oaxaca, Mexica. After the 3 week tour, I stayed in hostels and ate cheaply one week I bought a...
Connecting the Blips
Thursday, February 17, 2011. An American baker living in Paris, posted this morning on his FB page about the Borders book store closing. There is no doubt about it: this latest development in how the book industry is dealing with the challenges of digital verses dead trees is a serious issue. And, in thinking about my venture into writing books, I am convinced that going digital is perfect for me. But, (as Mark Bittman. Is fond of saying) that's another story. So, while many of the familiar anchors in th...

connecting the chaos | learning to walk with God
Learning to walk with God. We Need a Reset…. I’ve had this thought lately…. We need a reset…. We must go back to the ancient ways given to us by the ancient of days. Hear me out before you shut me out. His ways are not our ways. We all see that this world seems ready to implode and we can’t seem to carry the load. The weight of the hurt and the pain seems to run through our veins. The hatred and the violence makes love seem silenced. So that’s why we must go back, that’s why we need a reset. Your ball an...
