Contemplative Chaplain: Good Stewards--Sermon 4/22/12

http://contemplativechaplain.blogspot.com/2012/04/good-stewardsonce-upon-time-there-was.html

Sunday, April 22, 2012. Good Stewards- Sermon 4/22/12. For lo while my math grades were abysmal, my English grades were not! If we are homeowners than we are merely stewards of our homes and our lands, for aren’t they God’s? If we are church members we are merely stewards of this building, for isn’t it God’s? And what about our money? Is it truly ours, or is it a blessing from God that we are merely to manage in the way God would want us to? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011. The Tao of Grayson. Here are a few of the words of the wise sage I live with, who still can neither button his shirt nor pull up his own pants if they have a zipper. I bring you "The Tao of Grayson.". From 11/20/11. Conversation with the boy tonight as we looked at some pictures of a wedding. Me: Grayson, do you think you'll get married some day? Grayson: Actually, Mom, I'm already married. Grayson: Yes, to you. Did you know that? I swear. We don't pay him to say this stuff.

Jim Miller’s photo blog. Archive for September, 2007. September 18, 2007. The guerrilla must move among the people. As a fish swims in the sea. This is my confession:. I am a guerrilla prayer. I never intended to become one. But one day I felt this strong call,. And after receiving it,. I’ve remained steadfast. And not backed away. Like most guerrillas in the news these days,. I blend in to the surroundings. Then I suddenly pop up in unexpected places,. I do what I have felt called to do,. So I chose ins...

The Contemplative Photographer: Contemplative Born

Saturday, July 21, 2007. Children are born contemplatives. We were visiting relatives in San Angelo, Texas recently. San Angelo, if you're not aware, is home to. The International Waterlily Collection. I've tried to photograph waterlilies many times. But I have few images to show for it. It's hard to get close to them,. To get a good angle on them. Then there's the problem that one's tripod. Doesn't work all that well. Standing on the surface of a pond. I made my way there. So it feels private and quiet.

The Contemplative Photographer: Don't Think

Friday, August 3, 2007. I don't know the exact context. In which the Austrian philosopher. Odd that a man of thought. And yet isn't that the mantra. That brings into being every photograph. That is contemplative in nature? Isn't that the inner voice. That is heard when such photographs. Are about to come into being? Don't try to reason it all out—. Go with your God-given intuition. Don't stay in your mind—. Let go of it. And allow it to let go of you. Dare to be in your eyes. And see with your soul.

Saturday, July 28, 2007. If you wish to make. An apple pie from scratch,. You must first create the universe. Sagan's words are a wake-up call. Every time I come upon them. When we photographers take complete responsibility. For the images we make,. We will do well to be reminded. Of Sagan's admonishing wisdom. If we're going to call that image of a rose completely our own,. Then we'd best start with having designed. The rose from the ground up. Otherwise the true creation of that image. So does the rose.

The Long Silence | Jemma Allen

https://exilicchaplain.wordpress.com/2014/02/28/the-long-silence

An Exilicchaplain tackles suburban living. In May, Andrew and I will be leaving China. It’s a long story, and the most immediate chapter began just when I would have been writing about Advent. It coloured our home leave. It required long silences as we waited to see what there would be to say. Leaving China wasn’t the plan. But it became clearer that it was how it was going to go. I have loved China. Laquo; For All the Saints. Date : February 28, 2014. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Contemplative Catholic

Come aside and rest awhile. Tuesday, 1 August 2017. During a recent storm around the 22 May, a branch broke away from a tree opposite a church in Allerton, Liverpool. This picture is offered for what it is. Some people see an image of Mary others see a scar on the trunk of a tree. What do you think? There is a story attached to the event but I somehow feel its a bit of an urban myth. Besides, what would the Mother of God be doing hiding in trees in an affluent suburb of Liverpool? Contemplative Chaos

Our life is messy. and we love it. July 02, 2014. I remembered I had a blog today. It was a fleeting thought. Part of me thinks the blog ship has sailed into infinite darkness. The other par of me was totally impressed that I remembered my Blogger password. And part of me needs the outlet. My journal can only hold so much drudgery and random thoughts. Why not the internet? So I contemplate resurrecting the blog. again. Not sure it will do much good. Life is generally uninteresting. October 29, 2013.

The Contemplative Chef – Marcella's Musings on Food & Life

Marcella's Musings on Food and Life. April 9, 2010. The Thing You Are Afraid to Do. There are two things I have come to know for sure: one, that I must do the very thing I’m afraid to do; and two, mainstream health and nutrition advice is almost always completely backwards. These two truths converged for me recently in a tub of lard. For years I’ve known the merits of this scorned fat, having read Sally Fallon’s. But when it came to lard, Big Brother’s nutrition machine had me brainwashed: Lard&#46...

Contemplative Christianity | Welcome

Contemplative Christians live by seven simple words. The first four are our gift to God. They make room for God in a world whose culture is ever more hostile to Him. In silence we make room for God in a world that is far too noisy, just to be with Him. Silence best focuses our heart and mind and affections on loving God, and when He chooses to speak we are better able to hear His voice. In Silence there is peace beyond comprehension. In Solitude my spirit soars. In Simplicity my mind and body are free.
