More than a Pile of Rocks. This entry was posted on October 15, 2013 by Kit. It isn’t just a pile of rocks. Inside are rooms where people slept, ate, gave birth, lived out their lives a long ago time. On some walls are messages carved in the stone; or paintings, filling in the details of what it was like thousands of years ago. 8220;One day we found thousands of shark teeth. It must have been an inland sea that dried up.” Carole tells us, her eyes lit up. El Malpais is where the lava broke through, there...

Thoughts from a Long Hike | Chinchilla and Pyrite

Thoughts from a Long Hike. This entry was posted on November 4, 2013 by Kit. Things learned or reminded of from this long-hike:. Start: walk a lot. When you get to the end: stop. If you are a woman, learn to pee standing up. It saves time. If you do pee standing up, try to learn how to do it so as you don’t pee on yourself. If you do pee on yourself hope you can find a partner who will tolerate you. Long-distance hiking is about walking a lot of miles to get from one place to another. Kit, please tell me...

My Hiking Life: On the PCT again
http://myhikinglife.blogspot.com/2016/09/on-pct-again.html
Chronicles of my hiking adventures, equipment used, knowledge, and equipment reviews. Follow Me On Facebook. Sunday, September 4, 2016. On the PCT again. People met: 5 bikes, 30 hikers. Slept well last night, stars out all the time. I'm amazed at how quiet this trail is, no morning squirrels chattering for me to leave and very few jays scolding me for being in their area. So I'm thankful that it's so quiet as this is one of the things I love the best, peace, quiet and solitude. Fresh, sweet and cooold.

I taught my cat to sleep with me / i want a hug, but not because i’m sad / the continental divide trail in 2017. The decision to wake up every day and continue hiking was the easiest series of decisions I’ve made in my life. I. I don’t really think urban life has to be by nature existentially soul-crushing, and I would not disparage someone for enjoying urban life (as many do enjoy it! This is just my experience with it. Right now I’m planning a thru hike of the Continental Divide Trail.

http://adventureswithpackraft.blogspot.com/2014/11/continental-divide-trail-2015.html
Nov 8, 2014. Continental Divide Trail 2015. I've been writing more on my other blog. Lately.this winter I'm preparing for a northbound thru-hike of the Continental Divide Trail. This hike will complete my triple crown of long distance trails in the U.S. and, more importantly, give me the chance to disappear into the wilderness for about 5 months. Can't wait! I hope to do a lot of boating this winter, but many of my trips will be on two feet.like last weekend in the Ochoco Mountains near Bend:. Oregon - S...
