A day in the life. An attempt at the humorous side of life, with the occasional (hopefully) helpful tidbit. Sunday, April 10, 2011. A recipe for health. Sort of. And a few secrets. Quite often when the sickies come to stay at our house, I make a big pot of soup. We've been sick so often this season that if I had done that, we'd have eaten nothing but! This time around it's strep throat, AGAIN, mixed most probably with the common cold. Somehow I have escaped the strep and hope to stay that way. When the r...

A day in the life. An attempt at the humorous side of life, with the occasional (hopefully) helpful tidbit. Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Faith and Good Works. I have been thinking a lot about how what we believe translates into everyday life. So why is it so easy to eat chocolate when I am hungry, get distracted with life at home instead of going for a walk and yell when we're late and that certain child will.not.get.her.shoes.on? I suppose it is because living what we believe is not always easy. I have ne...

A day in the life. An attempt at the humorous side of life, with the occasional (hopefully) helpful tidbit. Saturday, April 16, 2011. Back in college our phone had "technical difficulties". Some may think "issues" would be a more fitting term. One day one of my best friends, Jessica, called me with wonderful news. She was getting married! Sunday, April 10, 2011. A recipe for health. Sort of. And a few secrets. Undeniably the worst part of soup for me is handling raw meat. (A side effect that never we...

A day in the life. An attempt at the humorous side of life, with the occasional (hopefully) helpful tidbit. Sunday, August 7, 2011. Manly ratcheting roof straps. It seems like a sort of dream waking up in some strange place, doesn't it. It's hard not to calculate 'home' right back into the equation, but I'm trying to envision life here for the long term. It is nice to know we're not being held against our will, though! In Wal*Mart during a mad-crazy back-to-school buying frenzy). The people here are very...

Sunday, May 18, 2014. Mick immediately ran to Kaden, leaving Atticus alone on the curb. Other adults there took care of my now-hysterical boy and started leading him to the office when a friend of ours from our last ward found him. She called me and stayed with him until I arrived. Whenever we talked to Mick, his first concern was for Atticus. He felt horrible that he'd had to leave him like that, but what choice did he have? So that was our week. How was yours? Tuesday, May 28, 2013. My Faves for Today. Dinner I could make/eat every week: Sauteed boneless chicken thighs in mustard cream sauce (click on photo for recipe). I actually leave out the cream, though last time I added a tablespoon or so whole milk. I have tried this with grainy Dijon and smooth; I think my favorite is a combination of the two. Most delicious leftovers EVER. My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark". I have his album in pretty heavy rotation in my work playlist. Haunting and beautiful...

Sunday, September 15, 2013. They accepted our offer! Ours was actually the second offer they received, the first being from an investor with a low bid. I'm glad we moved as quickly as we did, and I wonder whether meeting the owner tipped the scales in our favor. But first we have to inspect the house and actually get a loan. One step at a time, Heidi. :). Saturday, September 14, 2013. We made an offer on a house. It feels a little sudden, but we and our realtor (Tim) feel good about it. Tim was a little ...
