K's Food Book: Short Black Cupcakes #2
http://kfoodbook.blogspot.com/2012/12/short-black-cupcakes-2.html
Collected recipes, my eating adventures and lots of photos of food! Sunday, December 2, 2012. Short Black Cupcakes #2. My mixer survived. a set of replacement beaters and it was good to go again! I had mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I think it's great to have such a vintage piece of kitchen equipment, and on the other hand I was wanting to to get myself an up to date machine with all sorts of optional extras. I (roughly) followed the Donna Hay version again, with the following tweaks. Tools I...
K's Food Book: December 2010
http://kfoodbook.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Collected recipes, my eating adventures and lots of photos of food! Thursday, December 23, 2010. Did I mention that it is currently crayfish season as well? Labels: fish and seafood. Wednesday, December 22, 2010. One of the reasons why my boy and I get along so well is that he loves to catch seafood, and I love to eat it! A match made in heaven. The crab meat was lovely and sweet. He boiled them up to cook and then I ate mine straight from the shell, with a dip of fresh cut garlic and white vinegar.

Collected recipes, my eating adventures and lots of photos of food! Sunday, February 20, 2011. The gym at work put out the following recipe in their Christmas newsletter. I thought that it sounded like a lovely refreshing punch for the summer season, and very simple! 1 pineapple peeled and chopped. 1 litre of cold pineapple juice. 1 litre of cold ginger beer. Large handful of mint leaves. Blend pineapple and most of the mint in food processor until smooth. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Pour a third of th...
K's Food Book: August 2011
http://kfoodbook.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Collected recipes, my eating adventures and lots of photos of food! Saturday, August 27, 2011. I think it is terminal. My mixmaster hiding on the right. I was trying to make butter cream icing today and I was having problems getting my beaters to click into my mixmaster. It worked okay last night when I made the cupcakes but for some reason today was not my day. I wrestled a few times, getting more and more frustrated and eventually decided that they just were not going to click in! Sunday, August 7, 2011.

In Fremantle to take part in their Cupcake Class! We were not sure what exactly to expect. We have made the odd cupcake or two before but thought that it would be fun to see another perspective. http://kfoodbook.blogspot.com/2011/06/baci-semifreddo.html
Collected recipes, my eating adventures and lots of photos of food! Sunday, June 19, 2011. The previous week I was left with a surplus of egg yolks. I considered various recipes to make use of them and kept coming back to custard. In the end I decided that the Baci Semifreddo. Recipe from Gourment Traveller. Would fit the bill nicely. I had six egg yolks and so I adjusted the recipe accordingly. 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. 140 g dark chocolate, melted. 1 1/2 tablespoons Dutch-process cocoa, sieved.
K's Food Book: Tools I would like...
http://kfoodbook.blogspot.com/p/tools-i-would-like.html
Collected recipes, my eating adventures and lots of photos of food! Tools I would like. I thought it would help me to jog my memory if I made a list of kitchen items that we would like! Dariol moulds - I would not expect to use these often, but they would come in handy for puddings. Dessert bowls - something glass and sturdy would be nice. An ice cream maker - just because! More ceramic baking beads. Another rectangular loose based tart tin (not non stick! One of the Nordic Ware French Tartlet Pans.
