Sugar & Spice - A Food Blog: Cornbread

http://cookingcutie.blogspot.com/2007/09/cornbread.html

Sunday, September 23, 2007. Nothing goes better with a big bowl of chili than cornbread! This was my first attempt at making cornbread from scratch, and the result was incredible. I wouldn't change a thing from this recipe - it developed a perfect crust and was warm and crumbly inside. Source: Cook's Illustrated, Fall 2007). 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour. 1 cup yellow cornmeal. 2 teaspoons baking powder. 3/4 teaspoon table salt. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar. Sugar & Spice - A Food Blog: Beef Mushroom Barley Soup

http://cookingcutie.blogspot.com/2007/09/beef-mushroom-barley-soup.html

Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Beef Mushroom Barley Soup. The weekly soup continues with a recipe for Beef Mushroom Barley soup, adapted from Elly. I couldn't believe how fabulous this soup turned out. The flavor was amazing, the meat perfectly tender and it was amazingly easy to put together. This rivals homemade wedding soup as my current favorite - it was THAT good! It does take about 2.5 hours from start to finish, but trust me when I tell you that the waiting is well worth it! Beef Mushroom Barley Soup.

Sugar & Spice - A Food Blog: Perfectly Chocolate... Everything!!

http://cookingcutie.blogspot.com/2007/08/perfectly-chocolate-everything.html

Friday, August 3, 2007. Perfectly Chocolate. Everything! I had been hearing numerous raves about Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Cake. And was waiting for an excuse to make it. I finally broke down yesterday and, with no good reason, made the cake anyway :) It definitely lived up to all its hype, without question. It's the best chocolate cake I have ever had. I chose to frost it with the equally sinful "Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Frosting. Really, this cake is too good for words. Subscribe ...

Sugar & Spice - A Food Blog: Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies

http://cookingcutie.blogspot.com/2007/09/oatmeal-raisin-chocolate-chip-cookies.html

Saturday, September 22, 2007. Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies. I have been eating a lot of oatmeal with apples and raisins for breakfast in the mornings and as a result, I've been craving oatmeal raisin cookies. I haven't made these in years, and to be quite honest, the last couple of times that I made them they didn't turn out all that great. I was looking forward to trying a new recipe and these definitely lived up to my expectations! Source: Deborah's Culinary Confections. 1 3/4 cups flour.

Sugar & Spice - A Food Blog: An Non-Traditional Take on Chili

http://cookingcutie.blogspot.com/2007/09/non-traditional-take-on-chili.html

Sunday, September 23, 2007. An Non-Traditional Take on Chili. There are a million different versions of chili and most people have their tried and true favorite. Nick and I typically don't like very spicy dishes, so this chili recipe that my mom passed along to me from another family member fits the bill for us. It's warm, hearty and not too spicy (not spicy at all if you leave out the chili powder! The addition of rice and omition of beans certainly make this nontraditional! 3/4 lb. ground beef.

Bean's Bistro: Eat to the Beat: Retro Coca-Cola Jello Mold

http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/09/eat-to-beat-retro-coca-cola-jello-mold.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. Eat to the Beat: Retro Coca-Cola Jello Mold. AKA Not So Attractive Flesh Gelatin. AKA Very tasty, but very ugly dessert in my fridge we just can't get excited enough about to actually eat. Ok, so I really had such a great idea for this latest round of Elly's Eat to the Beat. There is a verse that spoke to me for this event:. I think you're slipping. Cooking with Coke, now that was something different. And what about the retro aspect of diving into old school dishes? All of tha...

Bean's Bistro: July 2008

http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 24, 2008. I probably first made it 7 or 8 years ago when I first got the stone and it is in fairly regular rotation in my kitchen. From Pampered Chef, 'Season's Best Recipe Collection 1999 Fall/ Winter'. 5-6 Large Burrito Sized Tortillas (I always buy flour and don’t know if corn would be good.). 2/3 Can Refried Beans (I use fat-free or vegetarian style.). 1/2 C to 3/4 C. Sour Cream (Again, I use fat free.). 1 Tbsp. Chili Powder. 2 tsp Cumin Powder. 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder. Ok, so slather o...

Bean's Bistro: September 2008

http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 29, 2008. Oh, pardon, I got a little excited there! Fall is my favorite season and nothing heralds in the season better than pumpkin foods. After my disastrous jell-o mold, I thought I'd get back up on the horse with the new silicone bundt pan. It didn't matter though- it was delicious! We've been munching it for both breakfast and for dessert. Sorry coworkers- I was going to bring it in to share, but I think we're going to gobble it down ourselves! Pumpkin Bundt Cake with Orange Glaze.

Bean's Bistro: Chicken Mole

http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008/10/chicken-mole.html

Monday, October 13, 2008. As I stated back then, this is not a dish made by grounding up small ground-dwelling mammals. This is a Moe-LAY- much different. And this time it was fairly traditional and oh so tasty! I served this over white rice with some sweet potatoes that I roasted with a little brown sugar and olive oil. It would have also been great in corn tortillas or just on its own! Based off various recipes at AllRecipes.com. 1 Onion, chopped. 1 Tomato, chopped. 1 tsp 1 tsp. Cumin. Add in the onion...

Nothing But Crumbs: Where would you go?

http://nothingbutcrumbs.blogspot.com/2011/06/where-would-you-go.html

From my home and my heart. Where would you go? Paradise, that is where I want to go. To live. To spend the rest of my life. Seriously. You? What are the houses like? What items are available and what is the lifestyle like? These are all things that need to be looked at with the reality of moving and not just the dream of living in paradise. So that is it. Our goal is to eventually relocate to somewhere we see as paradise. We don't know when it will happen, but we know that it WILL happen. 15 November, 20...

Bean's Bistro: March 2008

http://beansbistro.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 17, 2008. A Rich Treat- Guinness Ice Cream. Nothing says St. Paddy's Day. Like a pint of the black stuff, Guinness. Yessiree, I'll dance a little Irish jig for you to enjoy a nice cold black brew! Of course we were going to have Guinness with our meal on March 17th- but I wanted to do something special to cap the evening off right. After some searching, I found an interesting recipe for Guinness ice cream at Boston.com. This, certainly, was what I had been looking for! Overall, a triumph!

Cooking Cute: a bento site

June 4, 2008. A bento for BooBoo. Penguin onigiri stuffed with salmon/mayo/wasabi. Stir-fried broccolini and orange bell pepper, tomato flowers. Chicken drummettes from Trader Joes. It's been about time, eh? Life as a new mom can get pretty hectic, especially when you're working full-time as well. I was home unexpectedly today with the Boo, so I put together a bento with what I had on hand while he napped. Man, I am rusty! I can't wait until he is old enough for mini-bento lunches!
