Heat a pan, add oil, Cook the tomato till it becomes soft. Take it out. Now fry the onions till they turn transparent pink. Take cooked tomato and onion and grind. Add the ground paste to the pan again, add the chilli powder, salt, jaggery, turmeric and cook for a while, until the water content in the chutney reduces. Beetroot Sasuve/ Beetroot raita.

I tried my hand at Cooking. Wednesday, October 8, 2008. This dish is often prepared by mum. Its one of her own experiments and tastes delicious. Am yet to try it on my own. Corn flour or arrowroot flour. Serve hot with any khatta meetha chutny of your choice. This is one dish a girl in South India learns first. Supposedly included in some basic cooking that the girl is supposed to know :-) I am an exception. I have managed to learn to make good Upma after 7yrs of marriage, from my mother-in-law.

Curry leaves, mustard and Jeera for garnishing. Small piece of jaggery. A pinch of Hing. Boil the Toordal and keep aside. Garlic and Ginger paste- 1/2 tbsp. Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp. Chilli Power or Green chillies according to taste. Curry leaves, Cocomut, Coriander leaves for garnishing. Onion- 2 no.s.

I tried my hand at Cooking. Sunday, June 1, 2014. Beetroot Sasuve/ Beetroot raita. Beetroot- grated- 1-1.5 cups. Coconut- grated- 1/4 cup. Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp. Curry leaves- 10-12 leaves. Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp. Red dry chilly - 1-2 (break into 2). Urad dal- 1/4 tsp. Hing/ Asafoetida- small pinch. Cook the beetroot in a cooker and let it cool. Now grind the coconut along with mustard seeds. Add the ground coconut mustard mix to the beetroot. Add curd and salt and mix well. Beetroot Sasuve is ready.

Turmeric- ½ tsp. Pepper Powder- made of 8-10 pepper corns after it is roasted. Jaggery- a small piece if required. Ladies finger- qtr kg- chopped in small pieces. Onion- 2 large- finely chopped. Mustard- ½ tsp. Jeera powder- 1 tsp. Tamarind juice- ½ tbsp. Chilli powder- 1 tsp. Turmeric- ½ tsp. Oil for frying the onion.
