Tuesday, July 9, 2013. The last month has been a whirlwind. Now that I'm finally home, I'm tallying up some of the facts and figures of "A Tangled Tale's" trip around the festival circuit. 288 times my animation plays each day above TSA at DIA. 14 buttons to adjust seat 1A on cross-Atlantic flight. 6 hrs of weather/maintenance delays. 1 missed connection resulting in unexpected stay with mom’s friends in Phoenix. 2 naps taken on trains. 4 Germans (and 1 American) paddling a canoe on the Alster.

When I first started playing around with sand animation this year, and found an underwater romance rising to the surface, I had no idea that it would lead to a major crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Call me an idealist, but I believe in a better world where artists pay their rent on time because someone pays them a living wage. Preparing for a crowdfunding campaign is a big deal! A a short and efficient pitch video is essential.

Is a summer street festival that happens every second Saturday in our little town on the Frying Pan. There is live music and local food stalls, runners finishing the Aspen Marathon, and Art in the Park, featuring an outdoor Animation Station! We took the Metro in from our hotel in Silver Spring and got off at the Smithsonian stop. This takes you right up to the National Mall, directly in between the Congress building and the Washington Monument. It kind of takes your breath away. There's the Washington Monument!
