The DeLosh Chronicles: February 2011
http://delosh-family.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Remembering Luise Theodora Moeri Bigler. I have many wonderful memories of her. She felt that family was the center of all things, and that is definitely where her heart always was. I remember how she always took an afternoon "rest" and would lie on her bed with her feet propped up on the wall. I always thought this was bizarre, but she swore that the increased blood flow to her brain helped her feel rejuvenated. I remember what a fantastic conversationalist she was. There...

The DeLosh Chronicles: Natural Bridges
http://delosh-family.blogspot.com/2016/01/natural-bridges.html
Sunday, January 31, 2016. Four Corners Mesa Verde Natural Bridges. On our way home from Mesa Verde, we decided to stop at Natural Bridges National Monument. Natural Bridges are sandstone formations that were formed by erosion from moving water, like a creek. Our first stop was an overlook where we could see one of the three bridges, Sipapu. From this view, it really blends in with the canyon walls behind it. Some pretty red flowers he thought I'd like. He was right! On the way back up. Here's a the secon...

Sunday, January 31, 2016. Fall Colors and Geocaching! On a sunny Saturday in October, we took a trip up to the top of the Grand Mesa to see the fall colors, and to try our hand at finding a few geocaches. Although most of the trees had dropped their leaves already, we had a great time finding caches! Here's Hayleigh finding the first cache of the day. This one was pretty easy to spot. Heading to our next geocache, we spotted this small stand of bright gold aspens surrounded by pine trees. This one was hi...

The DeLosh Chronicles: March 2010
http://delosh-family.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 28, 2010. My mother always told me that my ability or lack thereof to communicate is the greatest indicator of my intelligence. My ability to properly use the English language and express myself eloquently would convey to the world my level of intelligence. So, I have a little pet peeve. It's when people can't use proper grammar, or don't have basic math skills. Like those who don't use your/you're, there/their/they're, or to/too correctly. Or, what about apostrophes? I have lived in Colora...

The DeLosh Chronicles: February 2010
http://delosh-family.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Fr Paul would say no. Rather, he would say that the thing that you give up needs to be something that will make you a better person, that will help you be more Christ-like. And 40 days and 40 nights is enough time to change bad habits into good ones. I view Lent in much the same way. We are given a time to reflect on and abstain - or *fast* - from certain bad habits. Is a successful Lenten season one where you ate fish every Friday and abstained from desserts? We started som...

The DeLosh Chronicles: January 2011
http://delosh-family.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 2, 2011. Looking Back on 2010. Well, another year has flown by. 2010 was not remarkable for us, but still full of activities and fun. I am excited to see what 2011 has in store for us. I thought that I would post a little review of our year. Then it was time for Mother's Day, and we had a nice cookout at our house and celebrated with my mom and my grandmother. And to wrap up the month, we went to Bishop's Castle, which is a medieval type castle being built by hand. August brought pickle m...

The DeLosh Chronicles: Mesa Verde Day 2
http://delosh-family.blogspot.com/2016/01/mesa-verde-day-2.html
Sunday, January 31, 2016. Mesa Verde Day 2. Four Corners Mesa Verde Natural Bridges. The next day when we went back, it was a MUCH nicer day! What a difference a day makes. The snow and fog were all gone, and we had beautiful blue skies. As we drove up the mesa, there is an overlook with an absolutely stunning view of the Mancos valley, and the snow capped peaks in the distance were just gorgeous. Hayleigh standing in a small alcove at the base of the cliff. Yes, the path goes under that big boulder.

The DeLosh Chronicles: February 2009

Tuesday, February 17, 2009. In 1st grade, things did not get any better. She would be at school for 7 hours a day, and yet came home with homework that took about an hour to do each night. I began to wonder what it was that they did all day, because after spending 7 hours a day, 5 days a week in class, why was she bringing home so much work? 160;In September, they studied 9-11. Why? 160;To talk about Patriotism. What happened to the innocence of childhood? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
