Crafty beaded knitter: October 2014

http://craftybeadedknitter.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 15 October 2014. I haven't blogged about this shrug yet. I finished it in the early days of summer and then never got round to blocking it properly. That's why it still looks a little bedraggled on the hanger in the photo at the top. It is called Vitamin D and the pattern is by Heidi Kirrmaier. She has some really, really great designs on Ravelry! Check her out. I was smitten by them. (I am also making the Snow Mountain swing jacket, in a light blue linen yarn! Links to this post. Oooooooh, I ...

Crafty beaded knitter: March 2015

http://craftybeadedknitter.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 March 2015. Where dressmaking is concerned my holy grail is the perfect fit. It is the one element that I am most interested in: being able to make clothes in a colour and style I want is great, but to have them fit perfectly: that's what I want most of all, my top concern ambition-wise. Other elements are nice to have, but a dress that fits really well says a lot about the wearer, just like an ill-fitting garment does too. The underarm seam sticks out and so does the back nape. I am so di...

Crafty beaded knitter: Turquoise jumper

http://craftybeadedknitter.blogspot.com/2015/06/turquoise-jumper.html

Thursday, 4 June 2015. I completely forgot to post this draft, oops! I finished this jumper a few months back. I just want to stitch down some excess fabric at the front of the neck, to stop it pushing forward. But then it'll be completely done. I wonder if that's what stopped me from posting this? Well, here goes for now:. I am so very happy, relieved and delighted: I finally got my turquoise jumper done! To this - the finished product:. What the hell took me so long? I just don't get it. 24 June, 2015.

Crafty beaded knitter: July 2015

http://craftybeadedknitter.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Monday, 20 July 2015. It is not quite seamless: all of a sudden I decided to knit the sleeves open - because it is easier to remember when to do the decreases for the sleeve shaping when there are knit and purl rows. The stitch holder finally saw some use (I had them a while) but turned out to be a bit disappointing; they popped open on at least three different. Occasions and dropped stitches, which is precisely what they're meant to prevent. Such a nice strong colour that makes me feel good. PS: I am ca...

I've since come across a technique that re-inforces the waistline to keep it from distorting. Using tape at the waist looks very interesting and it isn't complicated at all. In short it's the sort of thing I really like! Good old Sewaholics put me onto the concept:. A Different Kind of Waist Stay. How did it go?

Double Dutch stories: February 2013

http://doubledutchstories-jodilee.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 24, 2013. I have made my first attempt at making a jacket for my friends dog. Armed with only a measurment for the length of his back and the circumference of his chest I made this colourfully jazzy cotton lined fleece jacket. The owner is happy with the outcome as am I. This is by no means a perfect jacket but hey it fits and he's warm so good result for 2 1/2 hours work :). Hes quite an old guy. Posted by Double Dutch. Sunday, February 24, 2013. Labels: Coat. Saturday, June 8, 2013. Self made recycled garden decorations. These are my new garden mushrooms I made using the stumps of some trees we had to remove. The caps are made using an old anodised aluminium lamp shade and the other is a sheet of printed tin I had lying around. I shaped the tin over and old glass terrarium bottle. The tin wasn't as pliable as I wished but I am pleased with the final shape. Posted by Double Dutch. Saturday, June 08, 2013. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Shabby Chic Cottage ".

Crafty beaded knitter

Saturday, 17 March 2018. Saw a fabric, couldn't resist it, bought it, and ended up disappointed because it doesn't at all look like I imagined. The colours are much paler in real life, more washed out. I knew that this is a stretch fabric, but I didn't think it was as thick as it is. It is basically sweatshirt material. If only this fabric was something like a thin viscose, I would love that fabric! It is rather loose and not fitted enough and I'm not sure what to do with it. What a disappointment. I am ...

Crafty Bean Counter

The ramblings of an accountant who loves to knit, crochet, sew, and quilt. Friday, January 27, 2012. I finished another WIP started in 2011. A second pair of socks. Can you tell that I like knitting socks? These were knitted with 1 ball (50gr) of Regia Design Line sock yarn that was left over from another pair. Closeup of the cuff. Stupid me, I knit the first sock on a 2.5mm needle (US 1.5) and the second on a 2.25 (US1). Hopefully, they will fit my Mom, who has a smaller foot than me. But there was a la...
