Orange You Glad: November 2007
http://orangeteplait.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
I came back to the US? Tuesday, November 13, 2007. Is This Thing ON? And, A Morality Tale. Is anybody still there? I never post anymore. I'm sorry. I'm working. Had le Boy here. Trying to be an Adult. Also, I am a mentor here. I won't go into the ick-ness of Dental HMO's, and wanting a dentist who wears a shirt under his dentist smock. Let me just say, I could be buying a used 2004 Jetta. Instead, I will be having my teeth fixed. Two root canals and several fillings. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Barrett's Blog: Sticks and stones
http://bwslog.blogspot.com/2008/06/sticks-and-stones.html
Wednesday, June 25, 2008. What an age we live in, huh? Not only can trained medical professionals send a calculated dose of electromagnetic radiation through my body, revealing the bones beneath my flesh, but I can possess a small, omnipresent camera with which to photograph said revealed bones. This morning, when nurses removed the bandages to take out a small drain that had been in place since surgery, was the first time I saw the surgical wound. It was also the first time I have ever been nauseous.

Barrett's Blog: Market Talk
http://bwslog.blogspot.com/2008/11/market-talk.html
Sunday, November 23, 2008. I think we're close to the bottom. If you work on the assumption that the growth of the first period was more rational and sustainable over the long run, and the growth of the second period was mere froth, then you'd expect the market to collapse until it was roughly back in line with the long-term growth average consistent with the first period. The market closed in that range several days last week. Does that mean we've hit the bottom? I think the answer is yes, more or less&...

http://bwslog.blogspot.com/2008/03/workplace-morale.html
Friday, March 07, 2008. Today we had a conversation about the best place in the office to hide in the event of a workplace shooting by a disgruntled employee. Read into it what you will. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Songs i'm listening to. View my complete profile.

Barrett's Blog: August 2007
http://bwslog.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 30, 2007. It's no secret that I'm a fan of long titles in art. It's not the length in and of itself that is attractive to me, but the potential for a long title to transcend its being, its telos. And become something more. To become, in short, a story in itself. An upcoming movie with Benicio del Toro and Halle Berry called Things We Lost in the Fire. From what little I know about the film, I have no desire to see it; I've never liked Halle Berry much, and domestic turbulence is so.

Wednesday, September 05, 2007. A new article, this time in Stanford Magazine, about Brian Wansink's research on the psychology of eating. He's a fascinating man and passionate about his subject. Read the article to find out why we eat more M M's when they're sorted by color, or get drunker faster with short, wide glasses. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Songs i'm listening to. Barrett's Blog: March 2008
http://bwslog.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 12, 2008. I'm thinking of declaring email bankruptcy. Lawrence Lessig did this. A few years back when his unread message pile grew beyond a certain point. He simply hit the "Mark all as read" button and called it a day. I'm up to 376 unread messages. It might be time for drastic action. Friday, March 07, 2008. John Cusack came up, and someone told us that he's a total sleazeball, and a womanizer. I said, "Yeah, and he'll just Say Anything.". Read into it what you will.

Orange You Glad: February 2009
http://orangeteplait.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
I came back to the US? Thursday, February 12, 2009. My body is a cage. There's an Arcade Fire song called "My Body Is a Cage," that I can't stop listening to. It's depressing but wonderful. I hope this widget thing I embedded works. I'm slipping back into the Human Condition these days. Not embodying it (we all always do that), but letting it be explored, intelligently, for me in the books I read and the things I watch and the songs I listen to. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My body is a cage.

Barrett's Blog: December 2007
http://bwslog.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 10, 2007. I have some new responsibilities at Newsweek, and part of them entail developing web-only content to help build the site. My biggest foray to date just went online. It's a photo gallery about how organized crime both benefits from and is challenged by globalization. Just like traditional businesses. It's tied to a story by Christian Caryl in this week's magazine, on the yakuza's "corporate restructuring.". Sunday, December 09, 2007. In the spirit of Santarchy." And so it was.
