Max's Big Adventure

Thursday, June 11, 2009. Days 29 to 33 (June 9-13) East Bound and Down. After our great weather for camping in Amarillo, we headed South and East towards Houston and quickly returned to the hot weather that we had fled Savannah to escape. You can only delay the onset of summer for so long, I guess, and we got an extra month of enjoyable (and occasionally downright cold) days so we'll have to be content with that. We camped north of Shreveport Wednesday night at Cypress Black Bayou. 550 gallons of gas.

Max's Big Adventure: Day 20 (Sunday May 31) Eureka CA to Point Arena CA

http://crosscountrybeagle.blogspot.com/2009/05/day-20-sunday-may-31-eureka-ca-to-point.html

Sunday, May 31, 2009. Day 20 (Sunday May 31) Eureka CA to Point Arena CA. We stopped at one turnout, and I don't even know which one it was, but we walked this little loop trail that was maybe half a mile long. No one else was there and it was great. Max really liked it. There was this one big tree that was all hollowed out to maybe 10 feet up that we could walk into. Labels: Avenue of the Giants. Humboldt Redwoods State Park. June 2, 2009 at 11:34 PM. Friday, June 5, 2009. Day 24 (Thursday June 4) Hurricane UT to Richfield UT. Today (after a walk and a good morning roll in the grass outside the tent) we went through two National Parks in Southwest Utah: Zion and Bryce Canyon. Both were full of spectacular views. On our way out we stopped at Natural Bridge, which I found fascinating. Max dozed in the Jeep. Labels: Bryce Canyon NP. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://crosscountrybeagle.blogspot.com/2009/06/days-27-28-sunday-june-7-monday-june-8.html

Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Days 27 28 (Sunday June 7 Monday June 8) Buena Vista to Denver to Amarillo TX. I saw on Roadside America that we would go right past the site of the Ludlow Massacre. And it was a good distance for a stop so we checked it out. This is where John Rockafeller had the Colorado Militia open fire on the camp of striking mine workers, which was done with such brutality that it in effect led to much of the labor reform of the early 20th century. Sunday, June 7, 2009. Day 26 (Saturday June 6) Mesa Verde National Park to Buena Vista Colorado. This was my last "must see" stop and it was completely worth it. Hopefully I'll have a chance to come back some day and really get in there. But, this is "Max's Big Adventure" after all, and the first rule has been "Will it be enjoyable for Max? A Little Time With Me: May 2013

http://alittletimewithme.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

A Little Time With Me. Thursday, May 30, 2013. I have an awesome Sangria recipe that someone wanted me to share. I decided this would be the easiest way to get it out there. Plus I am updating my blog, which I haven't done in a loooong time! I am writing the recipe from memory, so hopefully I won't leave anything out. The first thing you will need is a large container. I use the big sun tea jars. They are perfect. I hope you love it as much as we do! Thank you for stopping by and spending.

A Little Time With Me: Diet Bet

http://alittletimewithme.blogspot.com/2013/10/diet-bet.html

A Little Time With Me. Friday, October 4, 2013. I have struggled with my weight almost my entire adult life. I had no problem with my weight as a child/teenager. I think it really started when my kids were little. They wouldn't eat something, so I would finish it for them. We would bake homemade bread and eat the entire loaf as soon as it came out of the oven! You get the picture. I went from the 150's to below 120 in about four months. I also went from a size 14 to a size 4! Losing too much weight?

A Little Time With Me: August 2012

http://alittletimewithme.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

A Little Time With Me. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. As most of you know, my mom fell on December 10, 2010 and suffered a severe brain injury. She is now in a nursing facility because she is unable to walk on her own and cannot take care of herself. We go to visit her about 4-5 times a week. When we go during the week it is after I get off work, so we usually arrive about the time they are going to the dining room to eat. I would guess that there is probably 1 man for every 25 women there. Lady #2: Yes, my h...

A Little Time With Me. Thursday, September 26, 2013. I know most of you are scratching your head and saying what is a BzzAgent. Well, let me explain! A Little Time With Me. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. You will need to read Michael's blog post here. To understand what I am talking about. Even though he doesn't say it, I am pretty sure that it is written about me. Actually, I am positive it is about me. His blog is about trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Michael says that failure is part of the process. That I'm going to want to give up every day. Well, Hello! Have you met me? Of course, I'm going to want to give up every day. Thank you, my friend!

A Little Time With Me. Tuesday, January 27, 2015. I will be the first to admit I don't know how to manage my time. I am the world's worst waster of time. I know this, but yet, I can't seem to do anything about it. Let's look at the time I use to post on my blog. It has been 15 months since I posted on my blog. 15 MONTHS! How in the world does that happen? Where did that time go? What was I doing that I couldn't post something every once in a while? I let 15 months go by without one single post! Maybe you...

At the end of this post will be my weigh in for this week. I certainly hope it is down! Sunday, July 22 - The day started out with my first weigh in. You can check that out here. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be to post that for the world to see. It is what it is and I plan on changing it! So, are you ready for the big reveal? I know it won't...

1x9 setup is fun. Hey, I just migrated my bike to a 1x9 setup, rode it a couple of times and I can tell you it's definitely cool! I just wanted to have a simpler bike, and I've been considering removing the granny and outer chainrings from my crankset for a while, but I just did it a few weeks ago. What has been preventing me for doing it earlier was the fear of not having enough gear range for XC, but I just realized it would be OK. I also went through this post. Which gives plenty of useful information.

Of course the main event was getting to Bar Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean but the day was chock full of other great sights and wonderful memories. The first WOW of the day was Fort Knox and the bridge over the Penobscot Narrows. As we rode around a bend in the road there it was! Finally we arrived in Bar Harbor!
