Fermenting Kraut - crunchy parenting
http://www.crunchyparenting.com/2014/03/06/fermenting-kraut-2
Conscious parenting without the woo-woo. March 6, 2014. I had the good fortune this past weekend to attend a great kraut workshop given by Lisa Herndon of Lisa’s Counter Culture. It was a small, intimate group, and we got to talk about the basics of fermented foods, the health benefits, and our previous successes and failures. I’ve made sauerkraut in the past, following Sandor Katz’s Fermenting Vegetables. But I learned one incredible tidbit of info in Lisa’s workshop: t. As I write this, I have a batch ...

Conscious parenting without the woo-woo. February 12, 2014. The secret of success is consistency of purpose. 8212; Benjamin Disraeli. When in doubt, aim for consistency with your kids. If you say you’re going to take them to the park, take them to the park. If there’s any doubt in your mind as to whether it will actually happen, don’t tell them you’ll take them to the park. Of course, this is tricky. I can just hear your responses now…. What if it rains? What if the car doesn’t start? As patience-stretch...

Conscious parenting without the woo-woo. February 10, 2014. Ever wondered why cookbooks have so much text? Even the lovely glossy pages of your favorite food photography cookbook still typically have written directions. Why is that? Born from this question is a wonderful cookbook from Katie Shelly. “More of a designer at heart than an artist”, Shelly has created a entire cookbook that replaced boring text with charming illustrations for all the steps required. Conscious parenting without the woo-woo. The Best Recipe Apps of 2013. January 24, 2014. I’ve never understood how you could have the best of 2014 when it’s still January. Or even February. Honestly, I jump around with apps a lot, but in this case, dear reader, it’s to your advantage. I’ve tried some great apps and some terrible apps and here are the stand-outs. First, a baseline of features I was looking for:. Native iPhone app (no mobile web interfaces). Scheduling for menu planning. Here’s my pe...

Conscious parenting without the woo-woo. September 19, 2012. This goes out to a distant friend of mine, Ninja Kitten. She answered 11 Questions on her blog last week and I was touched while reading it, and kept giggling into my shirt to keep the noise down and not wake the kids. You know how it goes. Do you ever find yourself feeling good about yourself and then you trip and fall? Or is that only me? Yes For example, I just spent an hour on this post last night and wrote some killer answers. Woohoo!

The Leaking Llama: November 2011
http://leakingllama.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Daily trials, tribulations, and motherly rantings. Saturday, November 12, 2011. I used to be intelligent. I once knew the meaning of large words. Which now escape me. There was a time when I could enter. A conversation on politics and history. And understand the connection. When I was much younger. I had a firm grasp. On physics and math. And things of that sort. I knew grammar terms and usage. And I laughed at those who didn't. Now, I am mom. I know when someone uses incorrect grammar. I realize that th...

Daily trials, tribulations, and motherly rantings. Tuesday, October 12, 2010. Latest news: The Infamous Baby-Dropping Incident of 2010. Yep, that's right, I dropped the baby. My heart completely sank, and in that moment, I thought I had lost my precious baby girl. It sounded like a pumpkin being thrown to the floor. I had tried to grab her, but it was too late - she had hit. I quickly scooped her up while screaming something like, "OH MY GOD! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Daily trials, tribulations, and motherly rantings. Monday, May 30, 2011. Gardening Adventures - Week 9. I know, it's been too long since I've been on here. My garden is still growing, albeit rather slowly. I transplanted my broccoli, jalapenos, and onions. My onions are doing ok, but like everything else, growth is slow. Most of my broccoli died, but I have three little sprouts that hung on for dear life, and they are getting more leaves and growing a bit, but are still just sprouts. I'm still hopeful.

A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter. November 8, 2013. I Am A Follower, Not A Leader. After all the MUN prep, I’ve come to realise that I greatly dislike being in-charge. It’s so trying. I mean, how does one balance between giving people things to do, and taking into account what they already have on their plate? What if their plates are all full? Do you do everything yourself? What if your own plate is full? I need to sleep. I think somet...
