Tuesday, January 3, 2012. Here's a little bit of process for Longma, the Dragon Horse. The original page from Young People's Natural History was scanned and printed archivally, then I began adding thin layers of paint (Golden Fluid Acrylic, sometimes with a touch of Golden Open Medium). The final art is on my Oddments and Curiosities blog. So pleased to see the process. Looking forward to the next beast. January 5, 2012 at 5:41 PM. Saturday, May 28, 2011. So, for now, the still will have to do. (You're not missing much, I promise.). I did the initial sketch in ink and white gouache on toned paper, then changed the color and added the background (scanned from an acrylic painting) in Photoshop. Part of me really really wants to refine this, but I'm trying as hard as I can to let go of my obsessive tweaking since I know I won't have time for that in my class. I do hope this creepy crawly fellow doesn't disturb your dreams.

Monday, May 27, 2013. A supposedly useful thing I may never try again: Adobe Illustrator's perspective tool. I thought it would save time, but there were many things it didn't seem able to handle- although I must admit the problem probably exists "between chair and computer" as my brother the electrical engineer likes to say. :-. I have tried the 3D tool, by the way but I don't like its color-deadening nastiness.). All in all, the experience has left me quite querulous! Should've seen that coming, I guess.

Thursday, June 13, 2013. I did an AlphaBot. This week after all! We had a surprise flood situation this weekend that put me behind in everything– only the basement was affected, but with both sons home there was a lot of stuff stored down there. Luckily nothing truly precious was destroyed, but it still took many, many hours of clean-up. And it happened on my birthday, too, hmph! I imagined a medieval monk patiently illuminating a manuscript, when suddenly an alien spaceship lands in the monastery courtyard. Surely his new acquaintances would make their way into the margins. Sunday, December 2, 2012. As promised, here are some pics of the finished product:. Tuesday, November 27, 2012. First off, some pics of a recent Emmitoufle, this time in pink. Leilah is featured in the top left of the first pic, helping out as usual. But I persevered. Admittedly, my sleeves didn't fit into the holes very snugly or smoothly and the seaming is sloppy. The sleeves are also too long. But it is finished! Currently blocking. I will post more pics of it once it dries. Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
