Monday, May 13, 2013. Sometimes it's all too much! And before you say anything about the undeniably awkward title, there is NO really good noun form for "overwhelm"! I had a choice between a rarely-heard and semi-archaic word ("overwhelmedness") and a cleaner, more current, but non-standard one ("overwhelm" as noun). I rather liked someone's suggestion of "overwhelmment" but that wasn't in the OED either. So I went with the superannuated version, because that's how I roll! Posted by Curious Art.

Monday, July 8, 2013. You may have noticed a glaring lack of UV in this alphabet- no, it's not due to excessive sunscreen use! The last couple of weeks have been a brain-frazzling swirl, but I do intend to fill in the gaps at some point. (I've done the sketches, just didn't have time for AI.). This is not the time of year when I'm prone to wistful reveries- they usually hit me when the days are short- but this song. Can sometimes bring them on, especially when I'm chained to the computer!

I couldn't find any Japanese beasts that began with L so I went for a Chinese dragon-horse. It took just a wee bit longer to paint than I'd planned! And then one day Sergeant Blippo prematurely fired a round while Private Chuckles was positioning a pie in the bucket, and away he went. Incredibly, Chuckles, by using his natural clown skills, scored a direct hit, and the 'Clown-A-Pult' was born! To this day it is the weapon of choice in any Clown Conflict!

Saturday, May 28, 2011. So, for now, the still will have to do. (You're not missing much, I promise.). I did the initial sketch in ink and white gouache on toned paper, then changed the color and added the background (scanned from an acrylic painting) in Photoshop. Part of me really really wants to refine this, but I'm trying as hard as I can to let go of my obsessive tweaking since I know I won't have time for that in my class. I do hope this creepy crawly fellow doesn't disturb your dreams.
