View my complete profile. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. The subject matter was excellent. We saw these people, all young adults with different background and personalities, different families and friends. Just knowing that these people are not just being painted, but they are real people in the world. This brought a connection between the people in the paintings and myself. I could see some of them as my friends in real life. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

AMA: The Beginning: Melba Price: Rapture
http://morri471.blogspot.com/2009/02/melba-price-rapture.html
A collection of thoughts and art criticisms from my present art student perspective. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Upon entering the Midway Contemporary Art. The figure's nude shoulders, pale complexion, and appearance of laying flat on something cold and grey give this grave impression. Suddenly I experienced an overwhelming sense of despondency and I was hit with the revelation that nothing really matters. These young people have all been captured in this one moment, but they have gone on to their lives.

A collection of thoughts and art criticisms from my present art student perspective. Friday, February 27, 2009. A Note on RAPTURE. I realize now that I didn't take the name of the exhibition into account when I was writing about it. When I finally did consider the name. I realized I didn't have a clear definition. It is certainly worth looking up. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Upon entering the Midway Contemporary Art. I will never know them; they will never know each other. The semi-transparency of the ...

Obviously the appropriation of a pre-existing photograph is contrary to modernist notions of originality, and he takes that ever further by reproducing the image again and again - which ends up working almost as a commentary on the depersonalization of celebrity culture. Blawwwwg.: Third eye visioning at the Walker.
http://cva-oad-negasi.blogspot.com/2009/10/third-eye-visioning-at-walker.html
Thursday, October 15, 2009. Third eye visioning at the Walker. I took my first EVER trip to the Walker Art Center in Mpls with my Orientation to Art and Design class last week. As a Minnesotan, and an art enthusiast, the fact that this was my first and only Walker experience is shameful… Anyway, a group of my classmates and I were taken on a brief tour of a very limited amount of the Walker’s art collection. Although Chris Ofili’s. Http:/ www.artsconnected.org/resource/87199/1/third-eye-vision. This is a...

Views on art is all personal opinion. Scholars don't do shit but label everything. End of story. Here's another piece by the same artist:. I think her use of medium, menstrual blood, is very unique. Junko of CVA: Curious Silver Star...
http://cva-oad-osaki.blogspot.com/2009/10/silver-star-by-mark-handforth-at-midway.html
Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, October 8, 2009. Silver Star" by Mark Handforth. Handforth was born in Hong Kong in 1969 and now is a Miami based artist. He went to school at The Slate School of Fine Art in London. He has had just as many solo exhibitions as group exhibitions. Also, it could have a positive meaning of wealth and happiness and health. Another interpretation could be that the riches of the world is in danger. I was drawn to this pieces because of the scale, irregularity of a 3-D s...

Blawwwwg.: November 2009
http://cva-oad-negasi.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 12, 2009. Our Orientation to Art and Design class was given a "mental mapping" project to complete in a couple of weeks. The class was divided into four different groups. While every group created a product that was fairly successful, one map out. The rest.quite literally. The map that.remains "lit" in my head shows pieces of art at the Walker Art Center. These pieces of art are represented by L. Denoting female artists, blue lights. Even more, the map forces the viewer to think about ...

Junko of CVA: Asses of Yesterday and Today
http://cva-oad-osaki.blogspot.com/2009/09/asses-of-yesterday-and-today.html
Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, September 24, 2009. Asses of Yesterday and Today. This is a statue (bronze I believe) of an old woman planting rice. Her hand is extended comfortably to spread the seeds evenly. The bucket holds the rice. I believe it originated from somewhere in Asia. These are horse statues (stone and copper? This is a Roman statue (Greek copy). A painting of fruits. Not sure who it's by but they look delicious! Ehh, this isn't very creative. More of a sad joke than anything.
