http://cva-oad-osaki.blogspot.com/2009/09/post-modern-shmoderrn.html
Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, September 17, 2009. This chapter was hell to understand, but what the heck.). This is pornography." by Pink Porcupine. So is this art? Views on art is all personal opinion. Scholars don't do shit but label everything. End of story. Here's another piece by the same artist:. I think her use of medium, menstrual blood, is very unique. Here's a similar artist being creative with his medium: http:/ www.jordanmckenzie.co.uk/spent.htm. September 23, 2009 at 9:30 AM.

Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, October 8, 2009. Silver Star" by Mark Handforth. Handforth was born in Hong Kong in 1969 and now is a Miami based artist. He went to school at The Slate School of Fine Art in London. He has had just as many solo exhibitions as group exhibitions. Also, it could have a positive meaning of wealth and happiness and health. Another interpretation could be that the riches of the world is in danger. I was drawn to this pieces because of the scale, irregularity of a 3-D s...

Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Floating Between The Heavens and The Earth. Suaire de Mondo Cane" (Mondo Cane Shroud) by Yves Klein (1961). Or did they stand on something? Blue is a sad color (like they say, "why so blue? As well as a cold feeling color. The deep blue of IKB makes me think of the ocean. If someone didn't know it was imprints of women's bodies, it might look like a four-legged animal from a front view (thus showing two legs). Klein did not touch the piece in the...

Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, September 24, 2009. Asses of Yesterday and Today. This is a statue (bronze I believe) of an old woman planting rice. Her hand is extended comfortably to spread the seeds evenly. The bucket holds the rice. I believe it originated from somewhere in Asia. These are horse statues (stone and copper? This is a Roman statue (Greek copy). A painting of fruits. Not sure who it's by but they look delicious! Ehh, this isn't very creative. More of a sad joke than anything.

Orientation to Art and Design. Thursday, October 29, 2009. Open-mindedness and Broad Variety of Art. Artist's Studio No. 1" by Roy Lichtenstein. I watched a video of Lichtenstein painting one of his large paintings, very similar to "Artist's Studio No. 1". I was amazed at the fact that he actually painted them with paint and brushes. It is very similar to Mondrian. The perfection in line and purity in color is simply amazing. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Floating Between The Heavens and The Earth. In his ...

While the clarity and composition of the photo make it interesting to look at, the feelings drawn from the eyes are what truly make this photo successful. The Wise words of Monkey. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. I could not get an image of a rifle from the MIA website and i didn't have a camera when we went there). Imagine a room that is dimly lit. Two spotlights point to opposite sides of the room. On one side of the room is a rifle set upon a table. A flintlock like was used by early European colonists and military. It points to the opposite side of the room. Thursday, September 17, 2009. Post modern perspective analysis. Art takes time and skill. So...
Gotta Catch 'Em All: Mining the MIA
http://cva-oad-masog.blogspot.com/2009/09/mining-mia.html
Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Following after Fred Wilson's Mining the Museum in chapter three of Describing Art, our assignment was to choose 3-5 items from separate areas of the MIA (Minneapolis Institute of Arts) and describe an installation we might create. The installation is meant to challenge the viewer's assumptions about those works of art. The pieces I am choosing are the Allegory of the Four Elements. By Cornelis Jacobsz. Delff, the Virgin and Child in a Landscape. The Resurrection of Christ.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009. A New Take On Mapping. Right now. It's a temporary exhibition of ceramic works. Knowing that, it becomes even more clear that women were not involved in contemporary art as much as they are until a couple decades ago. I think that the method that the group chose to display their information is very creative and that it works well. The piece is eye-catching and visually appealing to look at. Also, the information could be interpreted in a variety of ways. Was an etching made ...

While every group created a product that was fairly successful, one map out. The rest.quite literally. The map that.remains "lit" in my head shows pieces of art at the Walker Art Center. These pieces of art are represented by L. Denoting female artists, blue lights. Even more, the map forces the viewer to think about ...

The Wise words of Monkey
The Wise words of Monkey. Thursday, November 12, 2009. LET THERE BE LIGHT! After our mapping assignment I decided the walker lights map was one that caught my eye as an interesting piece that raised several questions. Some of these questions I had the opportunity to ask during the final critique. The rest are newly formulated after looking at the piece again and again in recent days. So why are the proportions of lights the way they are? Overall I thought this was a well designed map. I SEE HAND PRINTS!

This is for my Orientation to Art and Design class. I'm not totally sure what will happen with it. View my complete profile. Monday, October 12, 2009. I would say so, but perhaps my definition of "art" is more broad than others'. I wonder if the reason for all of the interesting textures and proportions has something to do with Diego's personality, the vibes one gets from him, or something about the relationship between artist and subject.
