He had a spinal blood clot, which left him a quadriplegic, unable to move either his legs or his arms. Because of this he dramatically changed his style of painting, from super realism to a more abstract type of work. Despite the disadvantage he might face I still think he is an amazing artist. Gotta Catch 'Em All
Wednesday, November 11, 2009. A New Take On Mapping. Right now. It's a temporary exhibition of ceramic works. Knowing that, it becomes even more clear that women were not involved in contemporary art as much as they are until a couple decades ago. I think that the method that the group chose to display their information is very creative and that it works well. The piece is eye-catching and visually appealing to look at. Also, the information could be interpreted in a variety of ways. Was an etching made ...

A Trip Inside Pebble's Mind
Thursday, October 29, 2009. Are they just silhouettes. An artist that I really admire is Kara Walker. I found out about Walker and her work from my teacher from my teen book arts program. My teacher told me about her because she noticed my silhouette painting and said she knows of an amazing silhouette artist and printed me out information about her. Thursday, November 12, 2009. Our Orientation to Art and Design class was given a "mental mapping" project to complete in a couple of weeks. The class was divided into four different groups. While every group created a product that was fairly successful, one map out. The rest.quite literally. The map that.remains "lit" in my head shows pieces of art at the Walker Art Center. These pieces of art are represented by L. Denoting female artists, blue lights. Even more, the map forces the viewer to think about ...

The Wise words of Monkey
The Wise words of Monkey. Thursday, November 12, 2009. LET THERE BE LIGHT! After our mapping assignment I decided the walker lights map was one that caught my eye as an interesting piece that raised several questions. Some of these questions I had the opportunity to ask during the final critique. The rest are newly formulated after looking at the piece again and again in recent days. So why are the proportions of lights the way they are? Overall I thought this was a well designed map. I SEE HAND PRINTS!

Tuesday, October 13, 2009. The best example I found of a piece with strong FORMAL qualities was Christopher Wool's Drunk II. Http:/ media.walkerart.org/2692480.jpg. There was a piece that startled me to say the least. It was a peculiar find at first, and then it became downright disturbing the more I looked at it. While it was particularly offensive in some parts, it was completely intriguing and the vileness of it kept m. Y interest nearly the whole time I waProxy-Connection: keep-alive. I chose this pi...

This is for my Orientation to Art and Design class. I'm not totally sure what will happen with it. View my complete profile. Monday, October 12, 2009. I would say so, but perhaps my definition of "art" is more broad than others'. I wonder if the reason for all of the interesting textures and proportions has something to do with Diego's personality, the vibes one gets from him, or something about the relationship between artist and subject. GARGLE FARGLE
Tuesday, October 13, 2009. 5 pieces from the Walker. At the walker one of the pieces that I thought had a good formal quality was Lucio Fontana's. The line in this work is near perfect from what i could see. looking at it, it looked like a perfect cut in a canvas but it was actually painted. My reaction to this, at first i was like blah whatever it was kinda plain but when i was told about the interpretations around it with the man standing in the window then i was slightly disturbed. I don't. Slant/ligh...
