Gotta Catch 'Em All

Wednesday, November 11, 2009. A New Take On Mapping. Right now. It's a temporary exhibition of ceramic works. Knowing that, it becomes even more clear that women were not involved in contemporary art as much as they are until a couple decades ago. I think that the method that the group chose to display their information is very creative and that it works well. The piece is eye-catching and visually appealing to look at. Gotta Catch 'Em All: Postmodernism

http://www.cva-oad-masog.blogspot.com/2009/09/postmodernist-theory.html

Wednesday, September 16, 2009. I'm not entirely sure if I understand this, but I'll give it a go. The assignment is to select a work of art and write at least one paragraph about it from a postmodern standpoint using ideas from chapter 2 in Terry Barrett's. So the work I have chosen is this: Werewolf Nesting Dolls. September 19, 2009 at 5:34 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Gotta Catch 'Em All. Gotta Catch 'Em All: Mining the MIA

http://www.cva-oad-masog.blogspot.com/2009/09/mining-mia.html

Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Following after Fred Wilson's Mining the Museum in chapter three of Describing Art, our assignment was to choose 3-5 items from separate areas of the MIA (Minneapolis Institute of Arts) and describe an installation we might create. The installation is meant to challenge the viewer's assumptions about those works of art. The pieces I am choosing are the Allegory of the Four Elements. By Cornelis Jacobsz. Delff, the Virgin and Child in a Landscape. The Resurrection of Christ.

Gotta Catch 'Em All: The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters

Thursday, October 29, 2009. The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters. Is Yinka Shonibare's version of Goya's The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters. Shonibare appropriated the iconic etching and gave it a contemporary art feel. The photo is of a white-haired man, not a self portrait of Shonibare like it should be if he were going to replicate the original, surrounded by realistic-looking owls and bat creatures moving in to attack him. Thursday, September 17, 2009. I chose this image for my postmodern example. I do not know who created it, but I do know that I found it on Diventart.com and looked for it again and could not find the creator. Postmodernism is still a confusing term to me and I hope that I get it somewhat right and that this works well. September 17, 2009 at 5:53 PM. OHMYGOSH. I love the person who does these! The Wise words of Monkey

The Wise words of Monkey. Thursday, November 12, 2009. LET THERE BE LIGHT! After our mapping assignment I decided the walker lights map was one that caught my eye as an interesting piece that raised several questions. Some of these questions I had the opportunity to ask during the final critique. The rest are newly formulated after looking at the piece again and again in recent days. So why are the proportions of lights the way they are? Overall I thought this was a well designed map. I SEE HAND PRINTS!
