http://cycleaa.staging.wpengine.com/maps-rides/rides-for-kids
Maps & Rides. Maps & Routes. Bikes and Public Transport. Cycling Facts & Figures. Where to take little children to spin their wheels and get their wiggles out, especially if they’re still getting the hang of riding in a straight line? Start local, and take them to school. If you’re lucky enough to have a local school that leaves its gates open for visitors after hours or during holidays. It’s a treat to have all those lovely smooth sports courts to sail around without bumping into anyone. Is not as well ...

Busways and why Whangaparaoa could use one. September 13, 2015. Pic courtesy of https:/ dgunderblog.wordpress.com/. We know that the old suburbs in central Auckland were developed around the tram network. Indeed the tram network was the creator of the corridors we now know as Dominion Road, Mt Eden Road and Sandringham Road (and many others). But, how do we emulate the kind of dense development the tram network created but without adding huge costs? How does this relate locally? Can we do it? Recently, A...

Give the children the ‘keys to the city’. September 17, 2016. With the introduction of ‘simpler fares’, it is great to see Auckland Transport offering up special child fares for weekends. And the recently announced availability of pre-pay HOP. Cards in selected supermarkets and other stores is another great step. But, can we do more? Cards (South-East Queensland’s version of the HOP card). This is simply a. Penalty fares are charged when you forget (or intentionally neglect? The image above is an example...

New Lynn to Avondale Cycle Path – an alternative? | The Orewa Urbanist
https://theorewaurbanist.wordpress.com/2016/04/20/new-lynn-to-avondale-cycle-path-an-alternative
New Lynn to Avondale Cycle Path – an alternative? April 20, 2016. On the back of the Waterview Shared Path. That is currently being constructed, Auckland Transport are now consulting on a $17.7M shared path from New Lynn to Avondale. Via the rail alignment. My question is “is this the best project for the area”. Numbers from Census statistics indicate there are 3,867 residents within 2km of Avondale College aged between10 and 19 years old. This is what a 2km radius of Avondale College looks like. Dutch s...

Orewa Beach and the proposed Sea Wall | The Orewa Urbanist

Orewa Beach and the proposed Sea Wall. May 10, 2016. May 10, 2016. This idea that is being proposed is something very much on my mind and I think it will be a very poor plan for Orewa Beach. It will effectively remove the ability (even more than now) to walk along Orewa beach at higher tides. Ben Ross has written a post with some other details here. Orewa readies itself in case of Tsunami. But Seawall will cause opposite to desired results. Orewa follows the Tsunami signs and blue lines. 1,515 more words.

Sunday, 18 March 2012. A look back at Manchester's cycle infrastructure of 2011. Yep There it is. Manchester's finest achievement in cycle infrastructure of 2010/11. The invention of the cycle patch. The basis for the cycle patch is that they could be installed at 8m intervals (in reality double that*) without having to apply for the TRO (Traffic Regulation Order) that would be required for a normal (shitty) cycle lane. In other words - they are the lowest of the low. Box ticked. Move along. Aptly, nearb...

Cycle a bike
Hello and welcome to Cycle a Bike blog, we are Jonny and Radka. In January 2011 we made the spontaneous decision to take time off work and do some travelling. We both love cycling, and agreed pretty much immediately when Jonny suggested we should cycle as much as possible. Carrying everything to survive and travelling by bike gives us the liberation to explore where we like and removes us from our daily worries. Freedom, living outdoors and socialising with local people is our desire.
