Daddy Diatribes

Thoughts, insights and rantings from a father. Friday, July 17, 2009. There is an experiment whose outcome I'd love to know: whether, over the long-run, a horse offered a carrot at the end of a stick will perform better than a horse that is whipped.  Intuition tells me the former is true in the long-run while the latter may be true for only brief spurts. The largest states that have tried some of the schemes being suggested have shown the model to be a failure. . Those that voted for change, you will be ...

Daddy Diatribes: May 2008

http://www.daddydiatribes.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Thoughts, insights and rantings from a father. Thursday, May 22, 2008. The price of tea in China. Texas tea, that is, black gold. I've been thinking a lot about it lately. For one, my retirement account is doing well because I've shifted a lot of weight over to commodities as the price of oil has skyrocketed. I've also been thinking about it a lot because there is a lot of groaning on behalf of "the common man" by politicians in Washington. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Daddy Diatribes: December 2007

http://www.daddydiatribes.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Thoughts, insights and rantings from a father. Sunday, December 16, 2007. Oh, My (fore)Father". While he lived in Mexico my great-grandfather accomplished many things. He studied law and became a somewhat successful lawyer. He raised his family. He practiced his religion. He loved his church and gave himself fully to its service. It seems almost a trait of generations long past to devote oneself so fully to a religion. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Other Friends and Family. A Great Snow Show.

Daddy Diatribes: I learned to fish

http://www.daddydiatribes.blogspot.com/2008/10/i-learned-to-fish.html

Thoughts, insights and rantings from a father. Sunday, October 5, 2008. I learned to fish. My family is split, politically speaking. Some of us are right, and some aren't. I've been giving the differences a lot of thought lately and I believe I understand the fundamental differences between us. I hope you don't mind, I'm showing your post off via a link on my own blog. If that's not ok please email me at abbiewbzhost@gmail.com . (I'm an online friend of Melissa's, by the way :). Other Friends and Family.

Daddy Diatribes: January 2009

http://www.daddydiatribes.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Thoughts, insights and rantings from a father. Friday, January 16, 2009. This morning I helped Grace get dressed. As she was taking off her pajamas she ran out to get some Pull-Ups. I told her if she can't always put her waste in the potty, she was going to have to wear diapers. She reminded me of the last time she put it in the potty. The following conversation ensued:. Me: When are you always going to put your pee and poop in the potty. Happy birthday Holly.). Links to this post. 1 c brown sugar. A not...

Mommy Musings: Now, that's what I call toxic gas!

http://mommy-musing.blogspot.com/2009/09/now-thats-what-i-call-toxic-gas.html

Tuesday, September 08, 2009. Now, that's what I call toxic gas! Background: Noah, sweet Noah.such a lovable, snuggly little man with a smile that lights up the room (and mommy's heart). But sweet Noah is not at all interested in potty training. In further checking out the situation, we noticed that not only had Noah been playing in the corner, he had been creating QUITE the masterpiece in his diaper. We all began to wonder.could his stinky diaper have actually caused the gas alarm to go off?

Mommy Musings: October 2008

http://mommy-musing.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 31, 2008. This was just one of those little "Graceisms" I don't want to forget! The scene: My mom and dad's house. We're all just lounging around and chatting. My mom: Hola Grace! Do you know what hola means? It means you're eating at the quesadilla house! Her name for the Mexican restaurant). Monday, October 20, 2008. I can't believe it. My FIRST baby is a TEENAGER. How did that happen? And 21 inches long. He was healthy and screaming and we went home a couple of days later. Follow-throu...

Mommy Musings: October 2009

http://mommy-musing.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 06, 2009. How Lydia Got Her Name. Since I had posted about the name Sophia and why we were going to name the baby that, I thought I should add an entry about how and why we changed it. It had never been on my name list before and wasn't really a name I'd ever really thought about. But it absolutely felt right and had the beautiful, classic girly qualities I like in a girl's name. She is almost 3 weeks old now and I must say, her name is a perfect fit! Saturday, October 03, 2009.

http://mommy-musing.blogspot.com/2009/08/aaron-and-i-discussed-it-and.html

Monday, August 31, 2009. Aaron and I discussed it and. You know how I love biblical names (even though none of my children actually have one- yet! Well, there seems to be a theme with my younger kids. Grace, while not a name of a person in the Bible, means the grace of God, her middle name Elisabeth (spelled that way) is Biblical. Noahs whole name is Biblical (middle name Aaron). So, it seems fitting that we follow the trend. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Aaron and I discussed it and.

Mommy Musings: September 2008

http://mommy-musing.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 25, 2008. Never mind, let's go to Target," I replied. :). My mom wall has changed my life (not to mention my reputation with the teachers). First. And MOST important to me) is the large white board calendar that I actually do use. It's got all the important stuff on it and I check it nightly to make sure I'm all ready for the next day (and yes Mom, I KNOW the little kids have school pictures next Tuesday! You don't even have to remind me this year! Friday, September 19, 2008. Stay hea...

Monday, August 31, 2009. Aaron and I discussed it and. Saturday, August 29, 2009. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. When she grows up. Grace wants to be a medicine-giver-outer (aka pharmacist). I thought I'd document that for her, so she'll know what her first career aspiration was. Why the interest in being a pharmacist when most kids her age want to be a fireman or ballerina you ask? For the record, when Tyler was Grace's age, he wanted to be a calculator. I love these kiddos! Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Today...

Wednesday, January 07, 2009. Our Very Happy Holidays! Whew, it seems like the month of December is always the fastest moving month of the year. We all had a great Christmas and I wanted to get it all down before I forget. After a week or two, even NOAH would get up and the morning and say "Where Spah-kle? Sadly, Sparkle had to report back to the North Pole until the day after Thanksgiving 2009. We all REALLY missed him for a couple of days after he left. Christmas day we did our own family exchange and A...

Mommy Musings: May 2009

http://mommy-musing.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 08, 2009. Let's hope this continues! We had our "big" anatomy scan a couple of days ago and for the third ultrasound in a row (with three different u/s technicians), we were told how cooperative our growing little munchkin is. We're so proud! They were able to get a peek at all of the stuff they needed really quickly (including confirmation that this one is, indeed, of the pink. Nuchal fold measures as it should. We could see the tummy so we know baby can swallow. A huge thank you to those of...

Sunday, July 26, 2009. Dear Baby Girl "Yet-to-be-named". Dear baby girl,. The first trimester was relatively uneventful. Though I found out very early that you were on your way, it whizzed by before it really hit me that I was REALLY GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER BABY! I was a little sicker (and tireder! Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Noah vs. the Peanut. We managed to get both cars pushed to the top of the street where it was safe to start them and went to the game. Before we even arrived at the game, the firemen gave the all clear, so by the time we got home, all was well. Fast forward to Friday. I am also thankful for our normally uneventful weeks and pray they continue to be the norm! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Noah vs. the Peanut.
