Longing for lavender | Dancing Red Ranch
http://www.dancingredranch.com/longing-for-lavender
July 14, 2015. We received a wonderfully warm welcome here in Sydney. Up to the high 60s and lovely, caressing winter sun. We’ve begun the semi-annual work of weeding and grooming and planting and pruning, and even added an espalier of lemon trees against the now-grandly renovated shed wall. But I’m worried about the lavenders back at Dancing Red Ranch. We’d waited almost two years to deal with the blighted bed of. Lavandula x intermedia ‘Provence.’. This slideshow requires JavaScript. It's fun to share!

On color: wise words from Mrs. Whaley. April 4, 2015. We spent five (rather wet) days in Charleston recently to attend the Spring Festival of Houses and Gardens. As usual, I picked up a book as my souvenir:. Mrs Whaley and Her Charleston Garden. 1997) I knew nothing about the late Mrs. Whaley. It's fun to share! What makes good gardens? Death & destruction in the lavender field. March 2, 2015. It started out with such joy and adventure! After seeing a lavender hillside at McEvoy Ranch in Petaluma, California, we decided we wanted a sublime bit of heaven for ourselves. I thought about filling out what’s left of the lavender. Lavandula intermedia ‘Provence’. It's fun to share! Return of the poppies. Monty Don: no truer words. Death & destruction in the lavender field. March 3, 2015 at 1:21 pm. March 3, 2015 at 1:30 pm. If you follow me on Instagram. Your feed was probably bombarded by pictures from Southern Louisiana, through the Cajun and Creole parishes commonly referred to as Acadiana. Travis Heights Garden Mama: 2015-06-28
http://123thgm.blogspot.com/2015_06_28_archive.html
Travis Heights Garden Mama. Sunday, June 28, 2015. My common sunflowers have done their annual take-over of the back garden. Spreading their branches in the sun, I have to duck around them to navigate the space. They are cheerful, native, feed wildlife and my hens, so I shouldn't complain. I only dislike when they become old, dry and woody and I get splinters from their prickly stems. I have finally ID'ed this volunteer plant:. Acorn squash- of course more productive than any I ever plant on purpose!

Travis Heights Garden Mama. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Dog days and other "wildlife". We are in the dog days for sure. Dragonfly- maybe a skimmer or pondhawk? Cleverly hiding on a dead pyracantha twig. Green lynx spider in the goldenrod. Katydid in the Pride of Barbados. Black and yellow argiope spider. there were two on the Green Belt on either side of the path, easily two inches long (including their legs). As for my plants, well. Some have done fabulously. My new pomegranate tree. Some plants are so so.
Travis Heights Garden Mama: Wildlife Wednesday!
http://123thgm.blogspot.com/2015/06/wildlife-wednesday.html
Travis Heights Garden Mama. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Gulf Fritillaries playing tag at the Natural Gardener. Black swallowtail in their butterfly garden. I think this is a Silver Spotted Skipper. At home the bugs have been peskier. This milkweed leaf beetle laid eggs that decimated the plant despite my daily picking and squashing. I think this katydid was pretty harmless. This Hentz jumping spider dropped onto me and acted ferocious despite being tiny. I brushed him into the grass. June 4, 2015 at 6:32 AM.

Travis Heights Garden Mama. Friday, March 27, 2015. So much promise this time of year! I wish I kept bees so I could turn the amazing honey smell of my Wisteria into reality. It is practically vibrating with fat bumblebees. And the mountain laurels. of course! Can I acidify this potted blueberry bush enough to get these flowers to bear fruit? A volunteer red poppy will stand watch. Coral honeysuckle in its glory. Almost tropical Mexican honeysuckle tucked into lush flat parsley. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Travis Heights Garden Mama. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Thanks to Carol at http:/ www.maydreamsgardens.com for hosting Garden Blogger's Bloom Day. My natives have enjoyed the rain with many blooms:. Purple and white coneflowers in the dry back. My standing cypress and common sunflowers are taller than I am! Each year I plan to weed out some of the sunflowers since they take up so much room but they are so cheerful and easy that I always end up leaving them. Butterfly weed hoping to attract monarchs! 8230;in the Garden. For the native Texas plants in this native Texan's garden, anything but death is a victory! A Walk Around the Garden Today. June 18, 2015. June 18, 2015. Budge and I decided to take the dogs for a walk outside this morning while it was still “cool” (AKA low 90’s)…ahh Texas summers…. We snapped some pics while plodding about following the corgi…I really should stop taking pictures and actually do some work butttttttt…. And for scale, my size 9 foot. Musings – a period of reflection or thought
A period of reflection or thought. Other People’s Words. Sister of Mine Series. July 25, 2014. Sister of Mine – Part Two. 8220;7:15 AM. I reluctantly climb out of bed, reaching for my hoodie with one hand and turning on my iPOD with the other. The wooden floor feels cold to my bare feet, but I ignore it as I turn up my music loud enough to wake me up. When she is fully dressed, I dab toothpaste on her brush. Havilah, I’m gonna brush your teeth now. There is a part of me that misses it. July 17, 2014.

About
Imagine the affect when a stone drops through the glassy surface of a still, quiet lake. Cycles of energy radiate out from the point of impact in ripples that extend and return in a cyclic motion, until balance and harmony is renewed upon the lake. Only then do we see once again the former state of stillness or quietness (imperceptible motion). Elawei Ama was founded and begun by Tim Dancing RedHawk. There is NEVER a charge for healing services or ceremony. Elawei Ama is able to provide ceremonies op...

Dancingredheels: A writer, not a speaker. Sparkles in her eyes, and life in her smile. June 16, 2011 by dancingredheels. I read an article recently blaming the “Singapore material girls” for the low birth rate of Singapore. It quoted an SMU study which showed that Singapore women are way more materialistic than those from other countries. First of all, the people polled were all from SMU. So isn’t this study significantly biased? Without a sense of humour, or someone with passion for his work? 8221; This...

Dancing Redux
Idle ramblings on life, children, friendship, and other thickets. Sunday, August 19, 2012. Maybe Tina's family stayed with her father until he was ready to be moved to the funeral home. Maybe he didn't have to have an autopsy. Maybe they simply sat with him after he was dead longer than we did. My God, did we leave too soon? Dad hated being alone- hated it more than anything. Nobody rushed us out: we just couldn't stand around him staring down at him any longer than we did. Sunday, November 22, 2009.
