Mark and Sylvia's Adventures. We're now back in New Zealand. We'll try to put some of our more interesting adventures up here - if we're not too busy doing fun stuff! Monday, September 28, 2009. Ah Bulgaria - another of these countries that we knew very little about before we arrived but found to be very friendly and wished we could have stayed longer! The challenge of a new alphabet (did you know that the Bulgarians invented Cyrillic? The nationalistic "Four Kings Monument" built by the Communists.

Mark and Sylvia's Adventures. We're now back in New Zealand. We'll try to put some of our more interesting adventures up here - if we're not too busy doing fun stuff! Monday, May 10, 2010. We were going to go to the Tararuas at the weekend, but on Friday night Penny and Jamie rang up to see if we wanted to go to the south-east coast for the weekend instead. Caspar and Nadine are going overseas and this was a sort-of farewell for them (even though they're only going for six weeks). Camping is OK, probably...

Mark and Sylvia's Adventures. We're now back in New Zealand. We'll try to put some of our more interesting adventures up here - if we're not too busy doing fun stuff! Monday, July 19, 2010. Queen's Birthday Weekend Tramp to Swamp Swamp. It was a while ago now, but at Queen's Birthday weekend Sylvia and I headed up north to the 'Naki to go tramping and check out a part of the country we hadn't really spent any time in before. There were lots of boardwalks and ladders. Including some natural ones. This is ...

Mark and Sylvia's Adventures. We're now back in New Zealand. We'll try to put some of our more interesting adventures up here - if we're not too busy doing fun stuff! Friday, December 24, 2010. A Great Week in the Mountains. We actually got one and at 3 am we got up to climb Mt Dixon. Mt Dixon - South Ridge on the left, East Ridge on the right. We climbed the slightly harder South Ridge because there was no way onto the East Ridge due to the large shrund at its base, except for traversing the crumbly rid...

Mark and Sylvia's Adventures. We're now back in New Zealand. We'll try to put some of our more interesting adventures up here - if we're not too busy doing fun stuff! Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Bits of my weekend in Singapore. I was determined to go and get some exercise after a sedentary week (and a cold) so headed up to Macritchie Reservoir. It's a great nature reserve, and again it was busy but not as bad as you might have expected in a city of 5 million! View from the Treetop Walk.

just doodling: June 2009
http://jodoodle.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
It's what I do. Alaskan adventures: Part 3, Hallucinations on the glacier. The route was the stuff of dreams. Steep solid granite walls, separated. Linked together by narrows ribbons of ice. What we hoped to be 'easy' early pitches turned out to be hard, brittle steep ice, or thin ice and mixed like Tony on the Twin Runnels, above. The obvious rock feature above is 'The Prow' the crux of the first rock band. Of bringing such a strong rope gun as Tony to dispatch. Hard We are being made to work for this.

It's what I do. B I G Birthday Month. June was my birthday MONTH. Yes, that's right folks - I used the excuse to celebrate as much as possible being alive for a significant amount of time. It started with a fabulous asian banquet laid on by my gorgeous flatmate, Sarah - thanks Sar! Pic courtesy of: Sarah Lambert. Pic courtesy of: Sarah Lambert. Then we had a 'summer garden party' with a 'beach' theme. It rained. Sarah, me and Handsome Dave. Trying to 'limbo' the slackline! Pic courtesy of: Kate Lindey.

The Life and Times of KJ. What am I up too, and where am I up too it. Thursday, 25 June 2009. Finally some Mountain Biking that is not Racing. The trail was truly lovely and we took our time admiring the views not to mention the great downhills. One rocked quite literally. It was a Rock Garden Decent lasting about 200m of vertical drop. The Enduro loved it and so did I though a few close moments made me realize how remote we were. Especially being all decked out in XC Garbe and no armor. So in the end af...

The Life and Times of KJ. What am I up too, and where am I up too it. Wednesday, 24 September 2008. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. Well this was a great long weekend away seeing some wicked spots with lots of driving, good weather, big mtns, hardcore hilly roads, overheating cars, massive trees and some cool camping. Also managed to see a lovely black bear in a real remote campsite. The canyon itself is much deeper than the Grand Canyon. Up to 8000ft in the deepest spot from river to ridge.

The Life and Times of KJ. What am I up too, and where am I up too it. Thursday, 30 July 2009. Maybe its about time for a rework of the Bible…. In the beginning God created the bicycle, saw that it was good, then went for a nice Sunday ride on the bike lanes He'd made the day before, and they were good, too, because they were new and He had the angels keep them clear of debris. Later, of course, God would get cross and have the flood wash all the good ones away. And the woman saw that the hill was good, s...

I have just been chilling. Hitting the beach a few times and relaxing after a busy first half of the year focused around racing on two wheels. Widget powered by EveryTrail: Share GPS Tracks. The Life and Times of KJ. What am I up too, and where am I up too it. Tuesday, 17 February 2009. A hoon into the Wintery Mountains. After the Palm Springs race I was bored on the Sunday so went for a drive into the Mtns since the weather was somewhat reasonable to check out the wintery conditions. A few observations…. Why fit them to begin with. There was no snow or ice on the roads. The Fudge in Big Bear really is top notch and competes with the Fudge at the Remarkable Sweet shop in Queenstown. There re...

Longer form writings and thoughts. A little after Valentine’s Day, but entirely before I settled into my apartment I had a date with someone planned. We’d set the date up before I deleted my profile from the dating site. I’d given up after a couple of experiences that were bad (to understate). I was on the fence about going and had been fighting with UPS over the delivery of something for my bass. I nearly cancelled. Love you Chey. 3. Jun 4th, 2015.
