Once upon a time . Every good fairytale starts this way, but this is not a fairytale but have turned into a UFO - and perhaps almost into a nightmare. I was looking through my blog and stumbled over this doily which I had completely forgotten. This was a challenge given to me in 2009, yes almost 5 years ago. My new threads and the second Stawasz book arrived a couple of weeks ago from Roseground. I really love the new variegated colours and even though I have read a lot of people are having problems with the Lizbeth it seems that I am a lucky tatter because they hardly ever cause me those problems. Most of the book is very large doilies which I will never be able to do, but here and there I see possibilities for choosing smaller parts of them. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I do not know if that exists in English (and I am too lazy to look it up, lol), but in the autumn I did those socks in the picture below so I have not been totally lazy while I have been absent. My phone does not give the socks credit when showing the colours because the second one from the right is actually purple-black and not blue-black. The Oval and Shuttles. Now the oval doily is finished. It took a bit longer than I had planned for various reasons. The diameter is around 37 cm. The threads are Lizbeth size 20 - the variegated is Scottish Thisle. It is a bit fiddly to tat because of all those small motifs and they also makes it sort of loose which again requires quite some blocking so it will be flat. Well, I'm glad I take photos of (most) of my finished stuff, as otherwise I'd forget what I've done! Especially the stuff that goes to good homes. =). Honestly, this blog seems turning into a virus diary more than a tatting blog. Probably shows that when I'm well I'd rather be tatting. =). Onsdag den 10. november 2010. New shuttle and needle case! And both handmade from Keld Olesen at http:/ www.orkisskytter.dk/. The shuttle is made of ivory (oh.these memories - when I was a child, I dreamed of owning a recorder made of ivory but had to settle with box blight; now I finally have a piece of ivory in my hand, even though a somewhat different shape than I imagined then), and it's beautiful.
