Dave & Tine's Thai Adventures

Dave and Tines Thai Adventures. Sunday, May 18, 2014. In researching for this post I discovered that there was an earthquake (magnitude 6.3) in this area earlier this month (6 May 2014) and the whole temple site was feared to be unsafe. Luckily Chalermchai Kositpipat has now said that all damage will be repaired but it will take several years. See https:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Friday, May 16, 2014. Dave & Tine's Thai Adventures: Santikhiri (Mae Salong)

http://daveandtinesthaiadventures.blogspot.com/2014/05/santikhiri-mae-salong.html

Dave and Tines Thai Adventures. Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Up into the hills: next destination Santikhiri, formerly known as Mae Salong, and once the centre of the opium trade in northern Thailand. Anti-communist Chinese forces made their home in Santikhiri and later fought for Thailand. For this they were granted Thai citizenship and the town has since continued to keep its Chinese influences (merci Wikipedia). Dried bamboo maggots for lunch, anybody? Tine caves in and buys a shoulder-bag!

Dave & Tine's Thai Adventures: April 2014

http://daveandtinesthaiadventures.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Dave and Tines Thai Adventures. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. We spent the night at Tha Ton (sometimes Thaton) in a very quiet cabin complex hidden in a lychee plantation by the river. The temperature dropped surprisingly overnight, evidence that we were somewhat higher in altitude. It didn't stop us walking into the small town for yet another wonderful meal, this time with Pan and Andy who helped us wash down a few bottles of Chang! Our little chez nous. Complete with ratan ceiling. Monday, April 28, 2014.

Dave & Tine's Thai Adventures: March 2014

http://daveandtinesthaiadventures.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Dave and Tines Thai Adventures. Saturday, March 29, 2014. After a lovely lunch (boy, have we enjoyed Thai food? We visited Wat Pho, a less busy but equally impressive temple, right next door to the Grand Palace. On the way we walked past this enormous banyan tree, with its complicated system of aerial roots. The five Dhyani buddhas. Yet another creature with a stone ball carved into its mouth. See how intrepid Tine is: she shows no fear! We loved this Charlie Chaplinesque statue! Wednesday, March 26, 2014.

Dave & Tine's Thai Adventures: Wat Tha Ton

http://daveandtinesthaiadventures.blogspot.com/2014/05/wat-tha-ton.html

Dave and Tines Thai Adventures. Saturday, May 3, 2014. Next morning after a wonderful banana pancake breakfast Pan and Andy took us to the temple in the hills overlooking Tha Ton. With a clear blue sky and the sun warming us after a surprisingly cool night we loved the beautiful views over the region and the more modern design of this temple. Dragons are very much in evidence in and around the temple. In fact you spiral upwards through a dragon's body, as if on the journey from life to death.

Dave & Tine's Thai Adventures: Elephant trek

http://daveandtinesthaiadventures.blogspot.com/2014/05/elephant-trek.html

Dave and Tines Thai Adventures. Thursday, May 8, 2014. On the way the elephant couldn't resist whole banana plants, just wrenched from the ground with its powerful trunk! Yes, the elephant did walk up this stream! Safely deposited at our destination, our taxi waited for more bananas as a thank you. Before heading off back down the track, no doubt snacking off more banana plants on its way! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Travel theme. Powered by Blogger.

An Englishman in La Tranche: April 2014

http://anenglishmaninlatranche.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 30 April 2014. Visiting the old neighbours (2). Tine and I went for a walk around AAA's estate. Luckily we've been many times before and didn't get lost! The cat and dog mark the septic tank. And who knew Anil was subtle, eh? Intrepid Tine at the start of our walk. Just one of the two large ponds. Complete with very noisy frogs. This is all their land: the house is on the horizon, a third from the right! Opposite there are vines growing (that's their house in the background). As you can see!

One Plus One Equals Seven

Monday, April 25, 2011. Catch me if you can! A word. Busy. And it's only going to get worse. I mean 5 kids = non-stop action. So here's a little rundown of what we've been up to the past little while. Totally random of course. Just finished my semester of school. My grandma was right. Going to school while having one child is much easier then going to school with five children. Live and learn. Did a couple photo sessions. Loved it. Lots of fun. Would love to do more if I could find more time. Loves to pl...
