Autumn Creeps In To The Summer Wood. Oil on 12oz cotton duck canvas 5′ x 5′. I’m working on this study of the woods near Sleningford at the moment. It is quite a big piece at five feet square so that all changes, particularly to light tend to take some time. Also, because of its conceptual simplicity, I tend to make quite a lot of changes so the paint surface gets more and more complex and impasto. It still has some way to go. He was on the second of two tours of Yorkshire and the north, putting together a series of studies for a book by Thomas Dunham Whitaker entitled 'A General History of the County of York'. Sadly Whitaker died before his book was completed, but on the up side the young Turner produced some cracking pictures of Hackfall that otherwise might never have been made. I'd have him, no problem!

I live in Huntington Beach, CA and have for about 19 years. Wow, Time flys when your having fun. I'm still a midwestern guy trapped on the west coast and loving it. I do have to get my Chicago fix at least once a year (preferably in the summer) it's a great town and blows away pretentious L.A. My motto: Have a good time, life is too short not too.
