Web site by RichoSoft 2. Welcome to the River Thames User Groups. Eight River User Groups cover the navigational waters of the non tidal Thames from Lechlade all the way down river to Teddington. RUGs were set up following a review of the how the river functions in 1983. The recommendation was that eight RUGs were to be formed. Michael Shefras set up RUG8 and Brenda Pollock set up RUG6. Then Harry Fountain, deputy chair of ATYC at the time, took it upon himself to get other RUGs set up.
