Journeying: Pearl's Blog: The Starfish and the Spider
http://journeyingpearl.blogspot.com/2010/01/starfish-and-spider.html
Sunday, January 10, 2010. The Starfish and the Spider. I just finished reading The Starfish and the Spider by Ori Brafman and Rod Beckstrom, and it is a must read for anyone in any kind of leadership position. First, how can you not be intrigued with a mysterious name like that? Plus, it’s an interesting and fast read – always nice. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Journeying: Pearl's Blog: March 2009
http://journeyingpearl.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 15, 2009. Sometimes we stop and we sit. Overwhelmed facing the ocean of need. And it moves forward without us. Sometimes it continues on and we are blind. Unaware of the dark injustice of our world. And it moves forward without us. May we be moving. Forward into the dark injustice of our world. Forward with the hope of the gospel. Together we hold lonely hands. Stand by each other. One step at a time. Alone so small, but together facing the ocean. Http:/ www.dalitnetwork.org/.

Journeying: Pearl's Blog: 1.29.10
http://journeyingpearl.blogspot.com/2010/01/12910.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. My sister’s voice came clearly through the cell phone, “God told me that you are called ‘to be a prophetic singer to the nations of his beauty and holiness.’”. It was a little weird since I don’t usually have people come up to me and tell me they have something from God to tell me, but what made it even weirder and also very cool was that it was exactly what I needed to hear. Almost like God knew or something. And this is when my sister’s call came. January 29, 2010 at 3:44 PM.

Journeying: Pearl's Blog: February 2009

Sunday, February 8, 2009. Last week missing snow, this week dreaming of gardens. So, a few days ago I was planning this funny post about the (sometimes crazy) things that I sometimes miss about the average 13 feet of snow back home in the UP. The smell of snowblower exhaust. Cleaning your car off in the morning. The sparkling like diamonds. Your eyes hurting because the sun on the snow is so bright. Walking through snow covered woods. Links to this post. Monday, February 2, 2009. And that something bigger.

Journeying: Pearl's Blog: Sacred Moments in a Rec Room
http://journeyingpearl.blogspot.com/2009/11/sacred-moments-in-rec-room.html
Monday, November 30, 2009. Sacred Moments in a Rec Room. Heaven comes on earth everyday, but we don’t always notice it. I dare you to watch for it though. One of these moments snuck up on me the other day. Much of our conversation ended up centering around the larger issues our churches often miss—issues of prejudice, poverty, and violence. At one point, someone named Albert courageously opened his heart to ask “are the [white] people in this room on our [minority] side? It was a sacred moment. Thank you...

Journeying: Pearl's Blog: First Snow
http://journeyingpearl.blogspot.com/2009/12/first-snow.html
Saturday, December 5, 2009. The first snow of the season came today. It surprised the last days of an unseasonably warm fall, sweeping aside the last leaves clinging to the trees, and frosted the still purple leaves of my lettuce in the garden. Best of all, it quietly blankets my soul. Whispering as it falls through the dark, grazing across your cheek, thick in the street lights. Suddenly, I am okay with slowing down, savoring, resting. Journeying: Pearl's Blog: Violence and the Church
http://journeyingpearl.blogspot.com/2010/02/violence-and-church.html
Saturday, February 20, 2010. Violence and the Church. I just finished watching James Carroll’s “Constantine’s Sword” in class, a film by Oren Jacobs. It punches you in the gut with a treatise on the atrocity of the Christian church’s endorsement of hatred and violence through the years. As it neared ending, I could feel the tears burning the back of my eyes, and my stomach lurched. I’m tired from carrying the weight of this knowledge. God, save us from ignorance, misunderstanding, and even outright misus...

Sunday, January 25, 2009. I Can't Help Crying Sometimes. This morning, all the leaders of this weekend gathered together for one last time. We touched base on some logistical details and then created some space to share about the memorable moments from the weekend. We saw a little bit of heaven this morning as leaders shared, a little bit of heaven coming to earth. Links to this post. Saturday, January 24, 2009. A response slipped from my lips: "It's beautiful- thank you, God.". Links to this post. 3) It...
