Laser Turret Progress
http://alvarop.com/2014/02/laser-turret-progress
Over the past month, I’ve been working on a laser turret for the DefconBots. The first thing I did was start from the reference design. On the website and bought a laser, servos, and pan/tilt mount for them. I build a very simple controller with an MBED and used a push button and joystick to control. This gave me an idea of the speed/resolution of the servos. (The speed wasn’t completely valid, since there was no heavy webcam to carry). I’m not sure how I missed it the first time). After receiving a larg...

June 30, 2007 at 1:49 am. And I have created a gun for the Defconbots. Competition. Basically, it is a shooting gallery with autonomous guns; the goal is to shoot down all the targets before the other person does. See the video here:. Real Stage 1 Sentry Gun. The software to control the gun was created by us using C#. The first step that is needed is to identify the targets. For this, we used a sobel edge detector. And numbered. See the video of this code working:. Defconbots autonomous sentry gun. Websi...

Rules and design for the Defcon Robot Contest. Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Interpreting Sharp IR sensor values. We're using the Sharp 2Y0A021YK IR sensors (10cm-80cm), but unfortunately it's not a linear output. The datasheet has a graph, but it's print-only, they don't give you either values or a formula. Dist mm = 1085534.81 * (float)pow( float)voltage mv, -1.2);. Where voltage is in in milivolts, and the returned distance is in milimeters. Really sharp, put this on your datasheet! We built a little ...
