I was the supper of the waxwing slain: Delhi
http://didactickatydid.blogspot.com/2013/08/delhi.html
Wednesday, August 14, 2013. One day in Delhi! We had a great home-cooked meal at BC and HC's house, but no real pictures. Before heading to the airport, we went out to Punjabi By Nature. Golgappa shots with jaljeera vodka. I know this is a gimmick but it is kind of a terrible idea. You need to chew golgappas at least a couple of times before swallowing, so you end up chewing a mouthful of vodka for awhile. Ugh. Amritsari fish and tandoori chicken:. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Cabane à Sucre Au Pied de Cochon. After our last visit to Montreal. And our amazing meal at Au Pied de Cochon. We were excited to hear that APDC had a sugar shack each season among the farms outside Montreal. Reservations were quite hard to come by, apparently, but we emailed them one minute after midnight on the day they began taking requests for the year (Dec.1) and lo and behold, we got an 8pm slot on the Sunday night of their opening weekend! Duck legs wrapped in a mousse ...

Sunday, January 20, 2013. Coq au vin and kale-peanut salad. I have often used Alton Brown's coq au vin recipe, but this time I tried Cook's Illustrated's. it needed more than double the stated amount of liquid (two bottles of wine, 5 cups of chicken broth) but I think it came out better in the end. Priya made a kale salad with red peppers and a peanut dressing that was awesome. Saturday, January 19, 2013. Priya's birthday brunch 2013. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Sunday, May 19, 2013. In the past week or so, a handful of new restaurants have sprung up in our immediate neighborhood. With my parents down to visit, we tried River Styx. Right near Transmitter Park, by the Roebling Tea Room folks) on Saturday night. (between River Styx and Achilles Heel- where I spent today drinking coffee and grading papers- my mom- a Latin teacher by trade- almost had a stroke from excitement). A raviolio with taleggio, ramps, and "turbo option" (turbot roe, I think)? The "salty roc...

Wednesday, August 22, 2012. In Portland for Karl and Rachel's wedding on the Olympic Peninsula. lovely city, delicious food! We walked around downtown a little on our first day. for lunch, we went to a large block of food carts ("pods") and ate Hainanese chicken at Nong's Khao Man Gai. we had been warned that the lines were incredible, but I think for Portland that means a little over 5 minutes. for $1 extra, a generous pile of chicken livers was added to the delicious poached chicken breast. When we ret...
