Derek and John's Epic Caper. Cape Epic 2010 is a lifetime experience for us. We want to give less fortunate children more choice by raising money for the Aberlour Child Care Trust. If you have smiled at our journey please give generously at www.justgiving.com/Derek-Bottom. Thanks. Monday, 31 August 2009. Wet work out . I was just about to open a large bag of crisps this evening when my phone lit up with a text. It didn't let up and my decision to run was tinged with regret but a commitment is a commitmen...

Sadly the pictures will have to wait until I return but I did capture some good one's as Bigman's rehabilitation allowed a venture out on the bikes. View my comp...

If you have smiled at our journey please give generously at www.justgiving.com/Derek-Bottom. Thanks. Sunday, 28 February 2010. Ironman demands more resistance. The Ironman was on iron form. At one point he was complaining because the bike resistance only went up to level 25! He was awesome. Even at this tempo, with his hea...

Around the world in 80 (Satur)days: The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind .......... the answer is blowing in the wind
http://posseecosse1.blogspot.com/2010/06/answer-my-friend-is-blowing-in-wind.html
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Wednesday, June 23, 2010. The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind . the answer is blowing in the wind. Gallactic star date Monday 21st June. It was a cracking evening and one of those nights you just know you will regret not getting in some miles. After business lunch and fully carbed the cause seemed appropriate to go for an extra big loop by evening standards. If only all summer's evening could be this good. At Kinross the p...
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days: July 2010
http://posseecosse1.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Friday, July 9, 2010. It was a little remiss of me to take a trip out, and fail to log it, only to remember the journey with the assistance of one's Garmin, which announced delightedly that on a previous occasion, (a week ago, to be exact) the same distance was travelled, in exactly the same time. Had I twisted the laws of pyshics, arriving home before I left, without the use of the international date line? No The distance travelled, 2...
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days: Alpe D'Huez lives up to its reputation

Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Monday, July 5, 2010. Alpe D'Huez lives up to its reputation. The memory has ironed out the ascent of the 21 bends to the top of Alpe D'Huez at just under 6000ft. The smell of burning clutch permeates the nostrils as you search for your next breath. Today was a refresher. It was steep. It was hot. It was humid . And it was breezy! On a positive note, no precipitation to deal with on the descent. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days: April 2010
http://posseecosse1.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Wednesday, April 28, 2010. It was with the greatest intention, Bigman set out on his daily journey west confident in his intention to return full of 'beans' and ready to take on another mighty distance in aid of hitting peak performance on the Caledonian Etape. It all went downhill from that point. A late meeting call for 17:30 in Glasgow and the plan was dead. Additional kilometres to circumvention zero. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Withi...

Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Monday, May 31, 2010. Phew, what a scorcher! It was Bank Holiday Monday and not too many people taking it off as a holiday. My plan was to weather watch and make plans nearer the day. I had a list of chores to do . which would b fine if the weather was rotten. As the weather forecast became more accurate, it was clear the chores would have to wait. Central Scotland was going to basque in brilliant sunshine all day Monday. I considered ...

http://posseecosse1.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Sunday, June 27, 2010. A royal day out. Jr and I (Bigmnan) had planned a family weekend in Braemar which would include a return to the Desside climbs of a few weeks ago witha bit of variety thrown in for good measure. We would reverse the route and include a coffee stop in Ballater. The sun was in the sky and the forecast was dry and so shorts with only light shower blouson was the chosen kit. 64km round tip towards the circumvention.

Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Climb Every Mountain.well, Hill. Once again the Dark Knight took the nosebag off his trusty steed and headed out onto the highway ready to do battle with dragons, trolls and the traffic. The 274 mt/5km ascent took 24 minutes to achieve, the run back down to the village a mere 8 mins :-). Oh, and did I mention my award? Won on last Saturday's Total Wipeout Award Show? Around the world in 80 (Satur)days. How far have we travelled so far? Sunday, June 27, 2010. We're gonna Ride.Forever. Well, those Are the words to the song. they may have meant horses. So, as yesterdays planned attack on the roads of East Dunbartonshire was called off due to a large lunch and the resulting snooze, this morning I needed to make amends. The downhill is exciting, lots of twisty turns, made all the more dramatic thanks to an appalling road surface, "Dodge the crater" was a new game I invent...

Lots and Lots of Apricots! Grandma Birdie has a HUGE apricot tree. Every year we go and pick bags full! Tenley picking up the mushy apricots on the ground. Her words "Ku-Kuh". I am married to an amazing man who is my very best friend and has blessed me with an amazing son. God and my family are the most important aspects of my life and friends follow family very closely. I cherish relationships and consider each one a gift from God. I try not to take them for granted, but get busy sometimes and do a poor job of staying in touch. View my complete profile.
