Using Social Proof to drive donations on PBS. Fundraising season, and tonight I was watching WTTW. S Hidden Chicago 2. And every 30 minutes or so they would cut back to WTTW’s studio where the wonderful Geoffery Baer. Would be trying to convince viewers to donate. Where people do things they see others doing. This would let people know that others were donating and quite possibly they would get off their sofas and donate as well. Infomercial developers know the concept of Social Proof. Very well. QVC.

Why isn’t all design universal? January 13, 2009, 1:57 pm. Isn’t the goal of design to meet the needs of the most people possible? Today we distinguish between universal design and non-universal design which means most of the design excludes a major part of the people (silver agers, handicapped people…). It is self-understandig that design is perceived as something exclusive (it excludes). How can design look like that is including in all senses? Design for the masses? Could this be it?
