Wednesday, December 15, 2010. While in Wellington (for our 2-day stay) we stayed at the Nomad Hostel. It was fantastic. They have a bar (“Blade”) attached to the hostel that has 2-4-1 drinks for hostel dwellers-Nomad’s is a “dry” hostel. YEAH RIGHT! The city definitely has an issue with parking. If you actually find a parking spot, it is very expensive. The bus transportation is five times as expensive as Auckland! Our parking cost $63 for two days in a “less expensive” parking garage. Monday, December 27, 2010. We stayed in the cutest, most romantic place to date –a jungle hut called “The Hideaway” at Te Nikau resort a few short and jungly steps from a private beach. The Hideaway" at Te Nikau Resort. This place is very close to the Pancake rocks and blowholes and a sweet cavern we were surprised to find on the side of the road. The Tasman sea was in a wild frenzy the whole time we were here but it was b-e-a-u-tiful! On the way to the private beach. It looks small here, but it was NOT!

Wednesday, December 15, 2010. While in Whanganui we stayed at the most adorable B&B, The Gumnut House. The B&B was beautifully decorated inside and out, attention to detail was their specialty! Our hosts were such wonderful people (with sweet restored vintage American –Ford- Muscle Cars). They also make the most deelishus breakfast and coffee-all organic and fair-trade foods! In Whanganui there are jet boat races on the river and sprint car races (if you time it right), we were a WEEK early/late!
